5/30/2026 10:23am Jackson’s DSQ had nothing to do with the poles themselves, other than the wind blowing him outside of them. If it had been tape instead, the same thing happens except he’s tangled up in tape too.

5/28/2026 4:03pm This version of the Gamux reminds me of a RedAlp... but better looking in every way. Maybe I'm getting used to it but the reverse stem seems to fit with the bike. The short cranks are just a cherry on top of a bike that already challenges the proportions I'm used to.

5/23/2026 12:12pm To bring it back to tech stuff, the new Scott Spark we saw at Korea will have a shock cover to seal the frame, but currently the flight attendant shocks don't fit in one.

5/22/2026 8:45am Just so everyone is on the same page, a 20% progressive DH bike and a 20% progressive trail bike can be two very different suspension systems. Below are two theoretical bikes that both have the same starting leverage ratio and the same 20% overall progression. However, the leverage slopes are different, meaning the rate of change through the travel is different.

5/13/2026 8:35am In all fairness, when considering just stack, Jackson Goldstone's bars are also super high. When he's standing next to his bike they're at his rib-cage. If I wanted to do something similar at 190cm tall my front-end would end up looking like Reece's I think.. There's definitely some merit to it

5/12/2026 1:26pm Long time lurker, first time poster here. For some background I’m an aerospace composites engineer and spent several years in Advanced Product Development with an emphasis on environmentally friendly materials. There’s so much to get into on this topic and if folks are interested I’d love to start a dedicated thread on materials and environmental impacts. The TLDR is, carbon fiber as a green product on its own is a fallacy. The raw fiber production may result in a certain level of carbon sequestering, but the process is still so energy intensive I wouldn’t call it an environmental positive. As...

5/1/2026 10:52am I'm not going to cast too much shade on Hardtail Bro. I will, however, cast plenty on the mixed messaging and policies of WBD/UCI. Their implied goal has been to raise the professionalism and elite nature of the sport. Simultaneously, they've allowed a racer to use a hardtail to compete. This is inconsistent with the way they're supposedly pushing the sport. I also will cast a little shade on our community. We've bemoaned the loss of grassroots accessibility to the World Cups while also bashing hardtail dude, who represents just such grassroots privateerism. Dude managed to navigate the red tape...

4/23/2026 6:38pm Surron had a prominent presence at Sea Otter, and a number of kids were riding these e-motos (along with pit bikes) throughout the expo in ways that were disruptive and inconsiderate. I’m still developing my perspective on high-powered eMTBs (which I consider a separate thing), but it’s hard to ignore how often these machines seem to encourage poor behavior — or at least attract it. I often hear the argument that it’s better for kids to be outside on bikes (of any sort) than indoors glued to their phones. In principle, I agree. But increasingly, it feels as though the...

4/20/2026 3:32pm I'm curious.. How does the staff feel about doing the coverage like this? I've personally liked it. Plus, the fact that others have been able to contribute what they saw and liked at the otter is pretty cool...

4/14/2026 5:09pm I bought one of these in 2018 for $6000 AUD ($4275) the spec was ridiculous, fox factory front and back, shimano di2, saint brakes etc with double down tyres it still only weighed 22kg. Sure it was ugly as sin, but chucking a 29 inch front wheel on that bike it was amazing. so 8 years later, we are catching up at triple the cost. ~22kg. The only difference is peak power and 300wH more battery? yes, it was ugly as sin. But the ability to swap a battery in 10 seconds was nice.

4/2/2026 10:29am Well it's confirmed (by email), RMU (Rocky Mountain Underground, the ski company) is making a bike (with DW) That likely explains the aluminium not-a-pivot we saw some time ago (photos in this thread). Well done folks, it was figured out here first
