I believe the Giant bar is 750mm wide and has a pretty common 9*5 degree bend. Despite the 1.25 steer tube the frame is a standard 44/56mm headtube, so with a change of the upper half of the headset any fork would fit.

bturman Liked a product review 2014 Test Sessions: Giant Trance Advanced SX 27.5

1/28/2014 10:12am
Reviewed by John Hauer and Jess Pedersen // Photos by Shawn Spomer and Lear Miller It’s bold, it’s black and it looks bad ass. When Giant converted the majority of their bikes to the 27.5-inch wheel last year, they also took the time to completely redesign the Trance. Fueled by the Enduro craze (and no-doubt their own squad of shredders), the rowdier than standard Trance Advanced SX 27.5 was born. Sporting 140mm of rear wheel travel, 160mm up front and a list of components that’s certainly race worthy, this one appears ready to rally. Sedona, Arizona served as the perfect...

It should also be mentioned that the Solo Spoke deal means there is just 1 spoke length on the entire wheelset. Being quite the wheel aficionado and pro wheelbuilder for 20 years i typically shy away from pre built low spoke count wheels. These wheels, along with only 1 or 2 others currently on the market, are finally done right. Sram has taken pre built wheels to a point where they are stiffer, stronger and lighter than typical hand built j bend wheels by re shaping the rim and the hub to make the life of the spoke much less...

E.T. Liked a product review Tested: RockShox Vivid R2C Rear Shock

11/11/2013 11:58am
Review by Evan Turpen // Photos by Dave Trumpore The RockShox Vivid has been a popular choice for downhill racers, freeriders, and bike park shredders since its introduction in 2008. With external beginning stroke rebound, ending stroke rebound, and low speed compression, it is one of the simpler, yet surprisingly adjustable shocks on the market. Over the years the Vivid has proven itself as a reliable performer that is a great “set and forget” item on any bike. The newest version of the Vivid aims to take this rock solid performance one step further by including some unique new features...

by Sean “Griz” McClendon Originally introduced in late 2009, the 26-inch Intense Cycles 951 went from experiment to success story with its World Cup influenced geometry, lean chassis and active suspension performance. Unlike the grounded feel of the M6, the 951 spent less time on the dirt and more in the air. The common consensus was the 951 was not a World Cup race bike, rather a fun park bike that could be pressed into race duty at National caliber tracks like Port Angeles. Then we saw the 2013 world elite DH race season close with contenders testing and even...

Funny, i rarely if ever go by sag on a fork. I do use it religiously on a rear shock, then just try to balance out the spring rate feel of a fork so it gets full travel without too much brake dive.

I weigh 135-140 dressed with gear. I'm a monster...:-) On the the 140 29er i set the pressure at 60 with the aforementioned 2 Tokens stock. I run 5 clicks in from all the way out on the low speed compression and only use the Pedal and Lock on pavement. On the 150 27.5 i am at 50 with 1/2 token. I believe i was at 55 with 0 Tokens stock, and 45 with 1 Token. I seem to prefer a light pressure and damping setup along with a fairly low tire pressure, but progressive ending feel. I ride light...

I have a 29er 140 Pike and a 27.5 150 Pike. I haven't done the flex/bind test. My first impression, which was on a 29er, when going from a Fox 34 to the Pike was that the Pike felt like it was far smoother in off camber "bindy" situations. The 34 seems good one minute and rough the next. Perhaps in a 29er configuration the Pike was actually stiffer, causing less binding than a Fox 34. When i got a 27.5 wheeled bike i found the Pike to be slightly rougher than the 29 version which seems to be due...

So does a spinal injury

I haven't seen this helmet up close but biggest concern with putting foam of any other soft material on the outside of the helmet is the increased risk of neck injury. This has been talked about in football helmet development. While the extra layer of material on the outside will without a doubt help absorb direct impacts, it can also get caught on things and increase rotational forces on the head. Think about going over the bar and sliding down the hill. Often your head just glides right along on the hard shell of your helmet. Add in a softer...

Krispy Added a comment about product review Havoc 26" UST Wheelset

10/4/2013 11:13am
I do believe that these wheels require a trip back to Easton for a rebuild, something only acceptable if they are race wheels and the owner has a second wheelset to use in the mean time. Considering that most DH riders only have 1 wheelset and ride a short 90 day summer season i find this unacceptable for DH use. Being an accomplished wheel builder i don't care for the threaded in nipple interface. The threads are much more coarse than a typical spoke nipple, so 1/4 turn is a significant amount of draw up. If a spoke nipple comes...
