Krispy Added a comment about feature First Look: 2015 FOX Suspension Lineup and First Impressions
4/8/2014 8:14am Love the old school graphics, surprised by the 36 29er fork! But are they smooth-yet firm- like a Pike?

Krispy Added a comment about feature First Look: SRAM's 7-Speed X01 DH Drivetrain Takes Downhill Gearing to the Next Level
3/4/2014 4:00pm With the number of DT Swiss hubs out there it' s not too big of a deal to switch freehub bodies. In theory the whole cass could be moved inboard but that would require yet another new freehub design.

Krispy Added a comment about feature First Look: SRAM's 7-Speed X01 DH Drivetrain Takes Downhill Gearing to the Next Level
3/4/2014 9:53am I believe they were referring to the previous XX1/XO cassettes. if you look at PB's view of the cassette it looks like the steel cogs are attached to the alloy backplate/spoke protector. Otherwise there would be 2 pieces of alloy on the cass.

Krispy Added a comment about feature First Look: SRAM's 7-Speed X01 DH Drivetrain Takes Downhill Gearing to the Next Level
3/4/2014 9:32am Due to the 42t cog which offers so much engagement of the chain, the XX1 drivetrains are wearing well in my area. This DH group does not use an alloy cog however, it is the spoke protector instead.

Ian Collins Liked a product review Tested: X-Fusion RV1 HLR Fork
2/27/2014 7:36am
Review by Ian Collins // Photos by Fred Robinson and Ian Collins Over the last decade or so downhillers haven't exactly had an excess of stellar options when it comes to forks. There were the two solid options that everyone knows about; the RockShox BoXXer and the FOX 40. Marzocchi and Manitou have won a few hearts over the years and despite some struggles they've remained alternative contenders as well. It's only in the past couple of years that the competition has really started to heat up with the arrival of companies like BOS, DVO and even SR Suntour. Under...

Ive had really good luck with the wheels. The rims are well made. The stiffness is pretty good as well. I've pinch flatted a couple heavy duty tires without denting the rim. The hubs are super nice. They use DT Swiss Star ratchet internals so they're easy to work on and get parts for.

bturman Liked a product review 2014 Test Sessions: Norco Sight Carbon 7.1
2/14/2014 8:12am
Reviewed by Steve Wentz and Brandon Turman // Photos by Shawn Spomer and Lear Miller New for 2014, the 140mm travel Norco Sight makes the leap from aluminum to carbon. In doing so they’ve reduced the frame weight by a whopping 25% and improved the ride characteristics. While the geometry remains the same, Norco did take the time to make a handful of minor updates. Combining the smooth lines of carbon, a dialed paint job and a little color coordination in the component spec, this bike truly is a sight to behold. In fact, we’d wager that it’s the best...

Interesting, i feel that they squat slightly under braking. That may cause a little bit of a loss in traction but should keep the BB low and the hands high, but maybe as it gets rougher that makes the fork work harder.

Ha! so they are.. i threw them in a bin as soon as i got mine, my Reign X had a 750 bar stock though.

I believe the Giant bar is 750mm wide and has a pretty common 9*5 degree bend. Despite the 1.25 steer tube the frame is a standard 44/56mm headtube, so with a change of the upper half of the headset any fork would fit.

bturman Liked a product review 2014 Test Sessions: Giant Trance Advanced SX 27.5
1/28/2014 10:12am
Reviewed by John Hauer and Jess Pedersen // Photos by Shawn Spomer and Lear Miller It’s bold, it’s black and it looks bad ass. When Giant converted the majority of their bikes to the 27.5-inch wheel last year, they also took the time to completely redesign the Trance. Fueled by the Enduro craze (and no-doubt their own squad of shredders), the rowdier than standard Trance Advanced SX 27.5 was born. Sporting 140mm of rear wheel travel, 160mm up front and a list of components that’s certainly race worthy, this one appears ready to rally. Sedona, Arizona served as the perfect...
