This is the best description I’ve heard yet about why people are so unsatisfied with the current commentary

DH is a hard sport to watch because it’s too fast and subtle for the average viewer to get it all visually and the background is so much more complicated and distracting than F1 or moto or ski races, which are on neat clear tracks and it’s generally obvious when something happens. Been said a million times but it’s the announcing and cameras that are ruining the show. And I’m not picking on Ric because Rob and Claudio weren’t much better. Eliot Jackson was great. Neko and Gwin can be great when they aren’t being constantly interrupted. I’m a longtime...

This is what I logged on to suggest as well. It seems like a solid compromise, no?

I thought it was very brave of Ebruner to be vulnerable and share how many bikes he and his wife have. It can be tough to come clean. We’re all active or recovering bikes addicts here, and this is supposed to be a supportive community for recovery. Or enabling rationalizations and fostering codependency, if that’s what you’re looking for. Both, really. JUDGEMENT FREE SPACE

From my understanding the difference of the graphs are mainly caused by the fact that the run with the countershock was shorter (the integral/area under the curves is smaller for countershock curves). Kane also has a great point as to what you could expect when the TMD words as expected. But additionally you would have to keep in mind that...

Absolutely did, saw something about 18,5 kg and that's all I based my comment on. That's how I internet folks. Upon closer inspection it would probably weigh about the same as my old Norco sight in a similar configuration.

I can with 100% certainty say you're incorrect. "We're all better for it." is immeasurably short-sighted. I only typed that thing up because I didn't want the poster to feel like I was making a judgement on him (or anyone else). It costs me nothing to make sure the people who haven't earned any sort of negativity from me don't perceive any negativity from me towards them. For many of us life is hard. We're all humans and we all feel things differently based on what our hour/day/week/month/year has been like. I don't need to contribute negativity into anyone's life...

Ha! Yes those are pretty sweet. No, I’m a mountain biker, I heard it from the voices in my head 🙃. But it could be an interesting fit for Wyn, and definitely could be a revenue stream for Gwin without infringing on his potential clientele. Just trying to introduce some more fun into rumors, sorry if the joke didn’t land. And it could go into hyperdrive. For Cami, I’m thinking Yeti or Scott because the Pivot is an air shock from what I’ve seen. Black and white photos with something over the head tube. BC to Scott and maybe Cami...

Danny Hart's GT Fury caught a lot of attention this past World Cup season as it had some notable structural frame modifications to increase compliance. Dale, Danny's mechanic, is a veteran frame engineer and had some great ideas on how to fine tune Danny's bike to work best for his style and to eke out the literal hundreths of a second needed to win races. If you haven't seen these mods, check out this quick section of Vital's PIT BITS video here. Let's dig into each modification. This will be extra fun because I was fortunate enough to be the...

Analysis I chose this online tool because it is freely available and because of the emphasis it puts on the assumptions of each test. Statistical test results are so much science-flavored nonsense when the assumptions aren't discussed with all the receipts ready to be shown. * This is why when one time in a session got flagged, all six times from the session had to be thrown out. Another, more complex model without the "balanced" assumption might have saved those five samples but this is the test I had chosen to use. Add that to the growing list of spots...

Conclusions and considerations for future mtb data projects for readers and test riders (as promised at the top) Say you want to jump on the trend of more data in your mtb content or more empirical testing. Say you are sample size ≥ 2 curious. How many test runs do you do and how do you deal with and talk about variability? I found that measuring 6 runs per day compared to 2 runs per day dragged my times up by 0.543 seconds on average. I also found that the difference in average lap times attributable to the differences in...
