Two day events are the real treat. Turns it into more of a spectacle because its more then just going out for a huge day. It is really an epic now. Also Booker winning in a T-shirt, a Troy Lee D3, and flat pedals is mind blowing. Maybe you just need good nutrition and be really good at riding your bike?

So stoked to see a proper enduro race and good coverage of it! Warning, mini essay on the state of Enduro ahead! I know the that downhill is more spectacular, and it’s certainly easier to cover, but there is something about proper enduro that really draws me in. One aspect is definitely that it’s more relatable — it’s the kind of riding and racing that I do. I can easily imagine just how fried they feel after 4 big days, or a after completing a long taxing stage where you’re just hanging on. But even moreso, it’s the narrative of...

If I'm not mistaken, this is the third Enduro World Cup event in a row won on flats: the last two ones were the World Champs in Val di Fassa won by Alex Rudeau and Loudenvielle won by Martin Maes who switched to flats especially for that race.

After watching the recap from day one, it looks like Rudeau switched to a 36, so I guess the answer is that he we wanted a little less travel and a lighter fork. I can’t post the screenshot I took for some reason but you can see it pretty clearly at 14:45 in the recap video. On another note, I’ve been really encouraged by the coverage so far this year! The practice highlights, and particularly the day one recap with interviews at the end of the day, feel like they do a much better job of capturing the vibe of...

Wow, that was a tight and eventful race indeed! Congrats to Dan Booker who secured his first ever EDR World Cup win with just 0.3 seconds to spare, and to Hattie Harnden who showed she is the one to beat at the moment in the women's field (she'll need all the speed she can muster as she gets set to take on the DH World Cup in earnest as well this season - starting next week in Poland). Spoiler alert: Don't read this shit if you're trying not to spoil results. Seriously. I'm not joking. Last chance. Fine. Whatever, man. ...that bike seems to working well for her, too! I'm not sure what the story is. It seems like Hattie just rips and knows how to go faster than other people. We'll have to see what happens on day 2 of Pietra but she's in a pretty good position, I think. Sidebar: I don't think it has anything to do with the gearbox thing; she was fast as shit before. I DO wonder, though, how much riding way...

I’ve been in Finale this past week on vacation, and it’s rained everyday. Not a ton, but enough to make some trails slippery, while others were tacky and perfect. The weather has changed every day (currently it’s sprinkling and cloudy), but it looks like it will warm up over the weekend and be drier. It doesn’t take too much sun to dry up a lot of trails, but there always seems to be some slick turns and puddles when you least expect it. The trails that are being raced on above Pietra have been closed all week. But I know...
