With the way they build the bikes, they could probably get a gearbox belt drive bike made pretty quickly. But, will the gearbox play well with the DW6 suspension layout? Can the get her a bike that feels right for her in a relatively short amount of time?

Surprised we’ve had this many. Usually isn’t towards the end of Jan as teams don't normally do photo/video shoots with the new riders until their old contracts expire.

I probably service 1 of those a year, and one I did recently had done about 10,000k without a service and was in pretty damn good condition inside. The USD concept of keeping oil on the bushings is way more beneficial than people give it credit for.

Mountain bike pivots are generally very badly designed, probably to save weight and cost. The bearings are too small, they often use single shear bolts, the bores usually too small/tight and the alignment is average at best. Enduro bearings are usually the best option because a) mature industries wouldn't use sizes like 6802 in those applications an b) if you use a bearing with tighter clearances they will be effectively seized once its mashed in to an undersized and probably oval pivot. Someone mentioned Norco range - they have one of the best pivots designs I have ever seen! I...

Enduro bearings are cheap Chinese bearings with a great marketing team. Enduro maxxx bearings lasted under a year in my 2020 Occam and the NTN ones I put in have been fine for over 3 years. I carefully removed the seals and packed them with green grease so I’m sure that helped.

I've had it through the shop and dyno'd but not personally ridden on the trail yet. I like the solid main piston (its not a mid valve on a shock) because it helps the damping to respond faster and balance the pressures more predictably. I think mixing a shimmed main piston in a twin tube is either to help it move faster (reducing low speed damping) or combined with preload as a high speed "blow off". The downside is if the shims are too soft the adjusters are very ineffective, the lag in damper response can increase harshness/knocking and if...

Apparently 100% is only going to specialize in eyewear in the future. According to rumours, the sale of helmets, protectors and clothing will be minimized or even discontinued.

I think the big question here is why your pivot bearings are dying. 1) bad design/dimensioning of suspension layout or bearings 2) bad/wrong bearings (too shitty quality, too soft material) 3) contamination of water and dirt ingress There are for sure a bunch of frames that suffer from factor 1). There is usually not much that you can do besides buying a new frame. Regarding point 2): here often OE bearings are cheap, meaning they do not have the hardness or tolerances required for the application or are sealed insufficiently. Here one can upgrade to better bearings that offer the...

Be nice. Also, you have to remember that development is secret and maybe he doesn't want to put that XXX brand is making a USD fork as they will know he is the one who leaked it, as potentially only a handful of people currently know.

Enduro MAXX (their term for full complement) bearings are not in the same league quality wise as NSK, SKF, FAG or even NTN and Koyo (IME). They are just an industrial bearing manufacturer that are not bicycle specific. However they do cater (advertise) towards bicycle bearing sizes more than the other big brands. I have been running "Rulla bearings" in...

Brother do you know what a rumour is? If I just tell everyone what brand is developing it or which riders will be running it this season it's not a rumour it's just a statement of fact. Keeping it vague enough for people to guess and put forward some theories as to who it could be is what makes it fun.

Excess grease is indeed probably the most common cause of failure. No different in older cars (and trailers) with cup and cone bearings, over pack the bearings and they will fail. I work on large centrifugal pumps that mostly run white metal bearings however, some still use deep groove roller bearings and the OEM manual states the amount of grease...

Yup thats pretty bang on - the telum system is dang close to re-shimming the piston and in actual fact probably behaves more like what you think reshimming a shock does . The Telum makes a clear change to the gradient of the curve, and only that where as changing shims often has multiple changes in the force and speed that the shims open. VVC is frustratingly sensitive to tolerance - the tiniest change in preload on the leaf spring has a massive effect on damping. If you set it up with close to zero preload the adjuster does almost...

So brakes, rims, your cable ends, as far as complexity I wanted to bring some perspective. I’m an engineer and have worked in consumer goods manufacturing my whole adult life; “Simple” stuff you use every day at home. Most anything is easy to design in the grand scheme of things. Manufacturing anything on the other hand is hard. Everything you use everyday, I guarantee you is 100x more difficult and complex to produce then you can imagine. Some of these simple assemblies we ride probably meant a team of people worked months and beat their head on a wall to...
