My thoughts, having been a two bike quiver guy for a number of years now. 1) Either bike will work. What will dictate how well either the Tallboy or the 5010 climbs is going to come down to the build kit - specifically, tires and wheels. 2) Speaking of tires, there is no free lunch here. You either have tires you can smash or tires you need to be careful of line selection/how stupid you feel like being. 3) 27.5 or 29" rear wheel won't really matter either direction here (no pun intended). Either can be setup to climb well...

Thought this group would get a laugh out of this. I was inspired by Troy Brosnan and all our brake nerd conversations in this thread, and did something weird on my gravel bike. I'm very glad they were able to produce a bike with some cable ports and it weighs an extra 3 pounds. Seriously, I hope that trend goes back the other way and all bikes have AT LEAST a stick on cable mount package sold with the frame or make some holes in the frame with some high quality plugs and ditch the tube in tube that is probably expensive to get right. I once had a pair of Hope pads do exactly this - I was never able to figure out the source of the contamination or what went wrong in the first place, but I lost pretty much all braking friction with a fully glazed pad and that was all there was to it. Nothing I did could bring that set-up back. Fresh pair of pads solved the problem... Maybe sometimes the pad compound just gets messed up from the factory, and "bleeds" resin under extreme heat or something.

To reset the setup, they told me to sand the pads until the glaze is gone. I used 120 grit paper and not much material was taken off. No need for cleaning agent on them, just blow the material...

Haven’t ridden a 511 much but can confirm I have multiple hits that would’ve dented a 471 every park day now with carbon they just shrug off. In my experience (Nobls) it takes a massive hit or something unlucky and sharp on the side of the rim to break them
