12/22/2025 7:49pm I was the one who originally floated the idea of maples to frameworks in the forum, people could have just read that and assumed I knew something.. but I didn’t, was just going off nekos vibe when commentating his runs. OTB podcast quite confidently said maples to pivot last episode.. but they are practically a bikepacking podcast now so can...

12/21/2025 11:31am 1 - the new maxxis high roller 2 - the new maxxis forecaster 3 - short travel bikes, picked up a Norco fluid, sure its heavy for its class but its a hell of a lot of fun, simple, reliable and constantly exceeding my expectations 4 - rockshox vivid coil 5 - good customer service - I’ve had interactions with...

11/29/2025 1:04pm Funny screen grab… oops… But more production ready frames… more brembos, and different Ohlins stanchions.. I think frame and brakes are soon! Let’s hope. I want the brakes. Not sure on Ohlins but will be interesting to see that direction

11/29/2025 10:55am Thanks. I'm old. "Sheeper", not Sleeper. Love that guy's dj videos. Not Race Talk but...if you're a fan of steeze, this guy's turn-downs and look backs are cranked. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=antRw5p5_5k

11/27/2025 11:20am Only time will tell, it’ll be interesting to see where it does end up. Personally I hope it dies a quick relatively pain free death and it doesn’t lead to bike companies sinking a heap of money into sub par bikes as has been implied previously in the forum.

11/27/2025 11:23am Unsure.. in downhill we went from 26 to 27.5 to 29, and then back to 29/27.5 - it kind of seems like we found the ceiling.

11/26/2025 10:24am Honestly, we're probably all just huge nerds. Or maybe, the sad reality of it is that cycling in general is such an expensive and elitist sport that it mainly attracts people who are financially quite well off. And in most western countries, academic success is very strongly linked to financial prosperity. Rich people, statistically speaking, still have much better chances in academia and generally much better access to higher education. Therefor it is probably not a coincidence that people who ride bikes seem have above average education. I'd like to see a venn diagram on this sociology of cycling.

11/25/2025 12:46am Thanks to those who've taken time to write kind words about Downtime. I was expecting to get some hate for this episode as there is definitely a lot of frustration out there on this topic and Markus appears to be a very polarising character. For what it's worth, I put in the time to understand the concerns of the MTB world as much as was possible from forums etc and I believe that all those key points were covered in this interview. I also took time to understand the mechanisms of Private Equity and just why growth is essential and...

11/24/2025 1:30am What i dont understand is how it’s any different to your bike landing on a rock or hitting a tree? It seems like the fork bumpers are going to dissipate the energy more than a rock.

Hope he lands on his feet, he is a fantastic ambassador for the sport to the kids of Australia and in all my dealings with him over the years one of the nicest blokes you will ever meet. What you see in the videos is him in reality, a true legend.

11/20/2025 10:49am Well I’ll ask you then, is it just a well funded fest series event against the clock smothered in red bull branding ? Or is it the hardest race on the planet? As it is marketed to be. I think these types of comments from Gee give it a bit of an identity crisis type look, and ultimately i dont...

11/19/2025 8:30pm This attitude is fine, but it makes winning kind of meaningless? It’s like the whole event becomes a participation award type ordeal and undermines the idea of it ever really becoming a race series of its own. It puts it more inline with a technical fest series type event. I don't really understand it.

11/13/2025 10:23am Is there a reason DW link bikes all seem to run short chain stays? I used to feel strongly about chain stays being a certain length, and then I got a bike with a shorter chainstay and longer reach than I considered ideal.. the bike is heaps of fun, so i stopped caring so much.

11/13/2025 10:14am The Fluid is, in my opinion, a bike that was almost completely ignored by consumers when it really shouldn't have been. I reviewed it for another site and it blew me away, and indeed others who rode it. A former colleague and I still regard it as one of the best trail bikes we've ever ridden. So much fun to ride. I wanted to try something else so didn't end up buying one (ironic given my point I guess!) but it is genuinely a brilliant, brilliant bike. Perhaps the carbon one was a little expensive, but damn, from a ride...

11/5/2025 10:33am Hey Jesse, in the 2027 season do you see the current EDR series being “bigger” or “smaller” than it currently is ? Seems to me that more big name EDR guys are setting their sights on those big multi day blind racing events with some UCI, and Megavalanche racing thrown in for good measure. Best of luck with what ever...
