Always wanted to do this and found it weird that SC specifically said not to use a dual crown on the Nomad because the sides can't take an impact from the fork. I feel like with bumpers on there to damp the impact it would be totally fine. Sick build.

The issue is the fork/bumper impacting the headtube during a crash, where the fork is abruptly jarred into the frame. A perfect example is the 2012–2014 Trek Session 9.9, which was notorious for cracking at the headtube where the integrated fork bumpers mount. In a crash, the force from the fork turning into the headtube would cause the frame to crack. I experienced this with my own Session and knew about five other riders locally who had the exact same issue.

I agree.  I would take a 38 with DH tires vs 40 with EXO.  All that bling and then cheap out over one of the most important parts of the bike.
