Ah, yeah, I wasn't clear enough, I was aiming exclusively at preventing infection. I think I mentioned here before that they are still very effective against serious complications and hospitalisations even with Omicron.

Reading this while taking a shit after a LONG day building pumptracks in florida. Why was it so long? Millennial anti-intellectual un vaccinated pseudo libertarian co-workers are all fuvking useless with Sars Cov19, all the un-boosted members of our team are all down for the count right now. As a former mid-20’s libertarian douche i am sympathetic, but BROSEPHS: science is real. Yes “big pharma” is stacking benjamins, but science is reall! As is my fatigue for taking up the slack for people who are science-skeptical.

Yes, it’s really unfortunate that this happened to him. He only gets brought up every single day in the pink site. Anecdotes about a mountain biker who had a decent following and as a result we all know his name don’t stand up to the mountains of evidence that you are significantly more at risk for severe long term symptoms from covid infection than you are from getting the vaccine.

I get that point, but the scientific literature is quite clear on the fact that a Covid infection is more likely to have a negative impact on performance than the vaccine. Especially when thinking about long-Covid. If I was a pro racer I would probably have tried to time as much of my vaccinations with the start of the off-season to minimise the effect on my training. However with the Booster requirements that seems a little tricky to get just right. Anyhow, wouldn't most pro racers and their teams already be vaccinated to be able to get around most travel...

Waiting with the tested vaccine and risking infection with a virus, that can easily destroy your lungs, among other things? I mean it does make sense to wait, but only if you're taking ALL precautions to prevent infection as well. I’d love to see your data because the actual studies say the exact opposite. There are very few potential serious reactions to the vaccines compared to the multitude of long term complications that can result from contracting the disease. If I was a racer I'd be much more worried about the long term effects of getting a respiratory illness than the fact that someone's mum's cousin's friend had a reaction to the vaccine
