I have been running a 32" front wheel on my epic all year. Started out with my normal 35mm stem and riser bars and I had a hard time keeping the front end under control. Tried out a drop stem and it brought my weight back forward and the front end was much better. Bike is very fun still and very fast. I'm 6'6" here and have zero interest in 32in wheel bikes, my XXL Spire is long enough on tight trails. I'm more concerned with the XXL sizes disappearing from lineups at a rather rapid pace with no explanation. I know we are a small market in the XXL frame size. But Transition dropped all XXL sizes for 2026 and their 2027 lineup won't see the size return. Yeti offered the SB140 and SB160 in XXL but are not offering it in LT or MT. It's a shame to see companies pulling back from this size as it nice finally riding...

Bike industry: 32" might make sense for tall people! Also the bike industry: Lots of small and medium 32" frames, no XXL frames.

IIRC chainstays are normally the same length, they just move the main pivot backwards on the front triangle to increase the CS length.

What’s really good about modular dropouts is that you’re able to get around a lot of manufacturing issues while providing a huge amount of adjustment just like fox did with their glide core. You can also still retain the ability to use transmission unlike Flip chips (except for pivot they kinda have that figured out, but it’s not exactly the same) The bad thing about them is having to stock so many different length ones to accommodate multiple rear end lengths.

I did try the zip tie trick but the zip tie only went about an inch past the dust seals so I didn’t think that was far enough. Also worried this could damage the seals.

Success! The fork felt amazing and I did achieve full travel. I have a theory as to what may have caused the air to build up in the lower. When I removed the lowers, the nut on the bottom of the air spring side was not very tight. It was just a bit more than hand tight. I wonder if that created a small gap when the fork would extend that sucked air into the lower? The air would not be able to escape on compression because the force would close the gap? Respectfully, the mass grave that I've filled over the years with cooked brake pads and rotors, broken rear wheels, and punctured tires and inner tubes from riding steep trails tells me that my center of mass has a much stronger relationship with my rear wheel than what you've depicted in that free body diagram. The main difference being bumps and holes. as opposed to the endless monochromatic smooth grade that's implied by the instantaneous snapshot of your freebody diagram.

I've sold a small handful of XTR bikes this year, and we've had a fair number of them come back with broken rings. We have near constant complaints about Shimano brakes being significantly louder than other models, and have yet to manage a consistent way to quiet them down, even after investing in a bedding machine.
