Way cool and rare frame. I don't recall ever seeing one of these in the wild and I was fiending for the latest tech in 1990. Hot bikes of the era: Bridgestone MB0 and MB1, Stumpjumper, Dean Titanium, anything Klein, many more as well... Keep the retro builds coming on BOTD!

TEAMROBOT Liked a comment about Feature REVIEW - 2021 Santa Cruz Nomad - Go Anywhere, Do Anything

I think long-travel bikes like this are the bees knees. I can only have one mountain bike due to money and space. I chose a long-travel bike, and I love it. My bike is a 180 front/160 rear Megatower, but pretty similar to the Nomad reviewed. It climbs technical stuff surprisingly well, and I'm able to keep up with most people everywhere. When I ride somewhere flat and boring I either lockout front and rear, add 10 psi to the shock, pump up the tires, or do all of the above. I have to work a little harder to go...

As a guy who lived in Santa Cruz for almost 10 years then moved to Durango 6 years ago, these pics make me feel very nostalgic. Both places are very special, but the longing for the ocean is sometimes almost unbearable. Time for a CA road trip!

As roots_rider says, keep the local stuff local. If you are a strava user, turn off the heatmap- its a toggle in the privacy settings. When you ride a local private trail or an outlaw illegal special, don't use Strava, or if you are compelled to use it, make that ride private, and keep the heatmap off.

This topic has been brought up consistently for the last decade, since flow trails started becoming a “thing”. I don’t personally believe flow trails have “taken over” like many people seem to argue, they are just more visible. They are generally easier to film on and easier to access, as they tend to be closer to infrastructure. They also get the most attention considering they tend to cost the most to build. Yin/Yang, for every section of flow trail built, a rough raw section should be added elsewhere. Experienced trail builders seem to understand this better. I have friends on...

Batts Liked a comment about Feature Eddie Masters Thinks the UCI Is Suffocating Downhill Racing

Anyone on here ever tried to put on a race with UCI qualifying points? It is not cheap. Then you will sometimes get big riders there and they don't need the points but fly in and take them all up. Like Eddie said, you would need to win 2 or 3 of those races to get the points, but if a few trade team guys show up then the local fast guys are racing for 5th place points at best. Don't get me wrong, it was great seeing Gwin at Plattekill, one year there were several top riders. There go...

Brines and Eddie are right- this ain't a new problem at all. I speak from personal experience in the late 90's when I ate an extremely hard to get $600 on a plane ticket I couldn't use to travel to Italy, Slovenia, and France for 3 WC DH races. Why couldn't I go? Because my UCI points had expired a few days before the races. I wasn't gonna rack up my credit card for the trip if I couldn't race. I called Martin Whiteley, who was the UCI guy who handled such things at the time, and asked him if...
