Just a few short days after World Champs and we're back in action for the first qualifying session of a double-header World Cup week - this is racing in the times of COVID-19. Of course, racing in the times of autumn also means rain and mud...but at least the course here in Maribor seems to hold up a lot better than the lower woods section in Leogang. The hunt for World Cup points is now on, time to strap in for four days of non-stop, on-the-clock racing action!
So much for the World Champs curse as both Reece Wilson and Oisin O'Callaghan backed up their Leogang gold medals with strong first place qualifying performances here in Maribor. In the Elite Women's category, Tracey Hannah took advantage of the slightly more normal conditions to let us know that she is definitely feeling fast and hungry for the win, clocking up a massive 5-second advantage on this relatively short track. Stay tuned for more coverage and get pumped for tomorrow's race.
