5/23/2020 9:45am What about HOPE F20 pedals?? , absolutely bombproof , had a set for 2 years and still spinning like new, these replaced a set of VAULT'S which didn't last a year - pins either fell out or snapped off and the RH pedal bushes , bearing and axle wore out completely so bad that they could not be rebuilt. superb grip but wouldn't buy them again....

5/23/2020 9:45am It confuses me why Spank Spoon pedals grow wider with the size, not longer. My feet got longer too as I grew up not just wider :D :D. I never understood square-ish pedal dimensions. There is often a unnecesarry overhang of pedal on the side of my shoe while i still lack the support longer pedal (size 11), there is only one pedal on the market that gets this, the Pedalling Inovaitons but it lacks the refinement to compete with this players I think

5/23/2020 9:44am I started riding BMX in '79, then racing in '84, and raced DH starting in '98, racing Pro from '02 to '12. I've obviously spent a large portion of my life riding flats. I definitely disagree with the DMR Vault, as there's no pins in the middle, where the ball of your foot and the most pressure rests. And I definitely don't agree with "concavity is king", I prefer a FLAT, flat pedal with pins in the middle, not just around the edges. The Vault isn't much different than the good BMX pedals from 25+ years ago, funny how you...

5/23/2020 9:42am good faceoff i think the nukeproofs are bomb. you forgot one peddle that clams to be the best in the world, the catalyst from pedaling inovations. saying that "The Catalyst Pedal from Pedaling Innovations is the world’s best performing, most comfortable pedal – period." And... "It is the first pedal that looks first at how the foot and lower leg optimally move then applies that insight to the bike." it looks pretty darn good online, and the science behind it makes a solid point why it could be one of best flat pedals.

5/23/2020 9:41am These face-off articles are the best! Keep it up vital! I have been wanting to see concavity compared forever, definitely helped aid my next pedal purchase.

5/23/2020 9:41am Alternately, one can just file off the damaged portion and unthread without damage. Where as if you break a set screw off flush yer "Screwed."

5/23/2020 9:15am Before I start, I realize there’s a lot of subjectivity to pedal testing and I’ve not used all the pedals on here. That said, I think this comparison could be a better, critiques below. 1. DMR Vault pedals shouldn’t be #1. Their quality/reliability is not good. Based on this article, in January I bought the Vault 2 Ti Mag versions. They are expensive, which I don’t mind as long as I get quality. With less than 200 miles (essentially less than 12 rides) one pedal is squeaking. I also discovered that a pin thread in the body is already stripped...

4/28/2020 5:08pm To be fair, some companies are doing a great job making frames that allow geometry changes to accommodate different rear wheel sizes without any change in HTA, STA, or BB height. That’s why I have a G1. I wonder how much of the failure of major frame makers to follow the lead of such a progressive company is due to reluctance to change too much (thus alienating brand loyalists), and how much is due to a desire to get people to buy more bikes. I guess I don’t really care though - I’m just happy with my setup, and that...

7/28/2018 12:00pm Anyone not happy with the lifespan of the Freerider Pro? I'm about 15 months into a pair and the sole is haggard with some holes starting to form. I'd say I average maybe 2 ride a week April-October and maybe 5 rides total November-March. Some of my days at Whistler Bike Park but I feel like I should be getting more use.

7/28/2018 8:11am Five Ten did address some issues, like water-holding and toebox delams (stitching). But these issues didn’t impact longevity in my experience - I was counting how long my 5.10s would last in YEARS, not MONTHS. it is nice that they dry out faster and I don’t have to Shoe Goo the toebox (which didn’t delay for a WHILE). But the sole wear, midsole wear, and whole-hog delam of the Contacts are unresolved issues that Adidas has not addressed, and is still selling the shoes. If you had asked me what to improve on the original Impacts, my only comment would...

7/27/2018 9:20pm I ride about 2x/week, and my Freerider pros lasted 1 year, holes in sole and midsole disintegration. I ride with Twenty6 Predators and Canfield Crampon Mountains. I agree - this is not long enough. Ultimately, the longevity is not acceptable. Just because a rubber grips does not mean it has to wear out fast, just look at the grip from Conti Black Chili rubber.
