One thing to remember about chainstay adjustments is that they actually affect your travel number. 10mm of chainstay adjustment adds about 4mm travel. That's not a ton, but 30mm of chainstay adjust would add almost 12-ish mm of travel to the bike and dramatically change the leverage rate on the shock. It affects the suspension kinematic a lot.

It’s actually less extreme than the V4 Supreme. That rear center grew by 50mm at bottom out. And the static chainstay was no less than 440 before sag. L bikes had an over 500mm CS at bottom out. I have a V4 supreme and the current Dreadnought. For the given purposes the Supreme doesn’t feel in anyway too extreme. I would imagine the Supernaught is a more refined better ride all around. I’ll prob try one in about a year or so.

That's a great comment. If I were little old Forbidden, I would rather use my new front and rear triangle Dreadnought molds for my downhill bike and just change links for travel and minor geo adjusts. I don't know if that's what they're doing, but it would be smart. Molds ain't cheap, and I expect they'll sell about a billion more enduro bikes than DH bikes. Buuuuut... I kinda doubt their new enduro bike comes with a full 49mm headtube and adjustable chainstays, so who knows.

I don't want to go down the rabbit hole into IBD politics... but Kona's been changing the rules of the game at will with their IBD's and not for the better. My LBS has been a long standing kona dealer since 98' - 00' ish. They have been a proponent of their bikes since the beginning and there were periods where basically, everyone that worked there and was a die hard of the shop was on either a process, heihei or honzo in the glory days of the gen 1, 153/111. They have had to pull back from Kona as...

Yes, Bryn only rides OG High Rollers...from a particular batch produced in 2016, aged in a temperature and humidity controlled cellar, and pre-conditioned with extra virgin olive oil prior to riding.

Based on a measurement I just took off of my bike, it seems like you are correct. With my crowns dropped down the stanchions 10mm I have a BB height of roughly 360mm. So only about 5mm higher than stock. I slapped that geo chart together pretty quickly, since I felt like it was a hole in my comparison. Sorry...

TEAMROBOT Liked a reply to forum topic 29er fork compatible with a 27 wheel

Go for it. The difference in bar height can be remedied by moving around headset spacers or handlebar rise, and the change in BB height is pretty minimal. And if you're upgrading to a fork with a significantly better damper and/or air spring, you will absolutely notice that on a DH bike. Dual crown forks can can be adjusted up and down in the crowns to change axle to crown height, so it's worth measuring your current 650b fork to see if it's showing 203mm of stanchion between the seal and the crown. If it's showing more than that (lots...

I definitely agree in regards to the difference in weight balance between the Range and Supernought. The rear center length on the bike is quite a bit longer. The wheel does also move rearwards more quickly at first on the Supernought, with 32 of its 34mm of rearward movement happening from 0-120mm or so. The Range on the other hand...

This is great. Awesome you dug in and did all the graphs. I’ll admit a lot of that stuff doesn’t mean squat to me. Pun intended… As has been touched on in the announcement thread; I feel there will be a monumental difference in feel between these bikes because of the rear center/chainstay length. The S4 Supernaught is a whopping 28 mm longer in the ass compared to an XL Range. And that is static! The difference between how these bikes will turn and behave is probably going to be huge the larger the size. I have an XL Range...

I'm currently running a Range that I've fitted a 200mm 40 to and removed a 2.5mm stroke spacer from the shock to get ~180mm travel out back. I'd also been planning to put a WRP link on over the winter. So I've been keen to get a look at how the Supernought stacks up to it. I figured I might...
