6/7/2025 8:50am Thoughts on chainring size and suspension performance? What percentage change does going from a 32t to a 34 or 36t make to anti squat and does that make a noticeable difference in downhill suspension feel? I’ve heard it’s not much of a difference but have never seen numbers put to it.

6/5/2025 7:09am This guy gets it. It’s like riding skinny skis. Why?

6/3/2025 10:27pm As a former race promoter, I’d say this. Making ZERO exceptions is more widely accepted POST race. Hard time cut offs & heavy handed rule enforcement make timing accuracy & “fair” racing possible. The other 99 racers there on a strict schedule PLANNING for zero mistakes expect that goes for all. The second you’re in the start gate, zero chance to back out. Zero assistance. You’ve got 5 seconds to break the beam or the clock starts itself. In the gate for 6 seconds…no excuses. Only things to change a schedule are those that change it for EVERYONE. Timing system...

5/31/2025 6:10pm I would think the rear would heat up more than the front because of how you use them. Front brake hard and intermittent and rear brake is more constant for speed management, thus not allowing it to cool. I’m surprised it gets that hot in 3 minutes but I guess it's super high intensity.

5/30/2025 6:22pm What other lower pulley guides are worth considering besides MRP mxg and Deviate that have large pulleys? Tips on orientation? I know the Slash had very particular placement, is there a way to figure out the best place? I assume there is some benefit to not having the derailleur fight the clutch every suspension cycle, even though @CascadeComponents commented somewhere...

5/30/2025 8:50am Of course. With the dhx2 it seems possible, with the EXT I couldn’t see light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for the note about the sprindex.

5/29/2025 6:48pm How’s the lower guide on a non high pivot? Worthwhile? I’ve been imagining it would have positive results lately so cool to hear people are running them on lots of things.

5/29/2025 6:45pm Thanks for all the discussion on this. I tried a few things since last posting. I didn’t have a heavier EXT spring but I tried opening the rebound most of the way, completely opening HSC, and almost closing LSC. It seemed better. Poppier, less “wrong” but still harsher than I’d like. Previously it just felt bad in so many ways...

5/29/2025 4:46pm A high engagement hub. Chain bounce engages the hub and the lower the engagement, the louder the hub is when it engages. This is with an o chain too.

5/29/2025 11:36am Rather than measuring a gap with your eye, align it to “touch” and all of a sudden it’s far more accurate than anyone needs. Just saw this was already posted. Also, I didn’t slide my grip all the way on and never noticed so….

5/27/2025 9:40am Sounds like a great trend. Pedal circles and don’t mash your pedals, use a lock out, or go with Neo. No need to sacrifice suspension performance on a long travel bike.

5/25/2025 11:05am Why would you suggest setting it up with 24% sag if I’m looking for a more supple ride?

5/25/2025 8:15am Sorry, super frustrating experience. I’m not looking to vent about it, just curious about specific aspects of suspension performance. On the theme of learning, where else would you measure sag? At the wheel? How would this change things?

5/25/2025 7:45am I started with 350. That gave me 28% sag at the shock. Sag calculated on 65mm. 350 felt very harsh. The distributor/tuner and Bryn Atkinson recommended up to 35% sag on this bike. If I’m not bottoming out, what would too soft of a spring result in? Good to know hbo is tuned specifically for the shock length. @carlinojoevideo I’m...

5/24/2025 9:59pm Same as the 2022. I'll try opening the rebound all the way again. The shock becomes unacceptably noisey with moderately quick rebound so I've not ridden much like that. The thing is, even in a parking lot test, the suspension just doesn't feel like it's very deep. I've had it retuned and put on a softer spring, it feels better...

5/24/2025 8:37pm Putting this here because it's potentially kinematics related and you guys are smart: I've got a 2024 Firebird with an EXT Storia v3 and it is the worst rear suspension I have felt in a long time. There's a lot to complain about (squeaks, rattles, harsh, slow) but I want to focus on how it doesn't have a very deep...

5/13/2025 7:51pm Is the low oil thing a common problem? I haven’t had a dhx2 that doesn’t have annoying top out.
