I can't believe I didn't think of this for B Practice. Hot tube podcasts are genius.

interesting pull from the bomb hole podcast (snowboarding) about patagonia's zero profit model. in the full episode they discuss some of the same things we've been talking about here (brands being bought, sold, licensed etc).

1. I am quite aware how patent enforcement functions. 2. I thought the attempt at humor was functional as well, but apparently not😁.

I've had the same experience with pins. They don't really offer any support and if they're wound in enough to contact the shoe I feel like it creates an inconsistent/sketchy release. I've been riding clipless (clips? clicks? binders? whatever) for so long that I never have trouble clipping in, but I've been wondering about having more support from the platform. Possibly a stupid idea but I've had intrusive thoughts about doing an experiment with gluing shims across the cage on my saints that would be close enough that a weighted shoe would contact the platform.

When I was demoing a bike at the factory in Golden, Colorado (more of a size fit check) November 1st of 2024, all of their assembly stations except one were staffed and they were looking to hire a mechanic immediately to fill that empty station. Plus the offices near the front had staff and a few staff in the showroom...

Oh, I 100% agree with you. Like I said in my "ramble," I don't necessarily agree with this line of thinking but I could see UCI looking at it that way. The point of my ramble, I guess, was to say that there are multiple ways of mentally framing this situation and the UCI seems to be fine playing things...

Sorry, missed the word "running." Lots of copy/paste rearranging to make my stuff make a little more sense. I must have missed it in a copy/paste frenzy. I'm not saying "this is what's happening" I'm saying "this is the lengths this could be stretched to." Yep, I used "mafia" in one phrase to illustrate an opportunity for corruption and then...

Should Norco drop about 160 points? The difference between Minnaar and Kuhn? If Minnaar retires/has retired he should not really be allowed to use his points? Although maybe he has not retired anymore 😁

Long post that was intended to be a short post but then I got to picking it apart and teasing it out further. Sorry! I'm not conviced "should" is a word in the UCI/WBD vocabulary. A quick reframing of the whole idea (that I don't necessarily agree with but I could see as being completely within the scope of how...

When I was shopping for my short travel bike the headset routing on the Tempo took it right out of the running for me, shame cause that Ohlins build looks like a hell of a bike otherwise.

Orbea taking a step back from headset cable routing is a bigger deal to me than their DH bike! I was one click from ordering a Wild, but after seeing the heaset in the flesh and reading the horrendous reports on forums I just couldn't do it. They quite litterally have the worst headset routing implementation (knockblock that breaks and knocks your spacers out, dedicated spacers + dedicated stem, need to disconnect your brake hose to get rid of all that stuff and mount an adaptor for a regular stem, horrendous looking cable angles to get into the headset no...

Agreed. A silver marker is how I've gotten sorted on my Burgtec set. A bunch of measurements later I realized the bike shop was off center by a few mm in their initial setup. A mistake that wouldn't have been made if it shipped with those markings!

Possibly. I don't know anything about how it all came to be. It's just as likely it's someone with a pile of money trying to extract capital from the unsuspecting mtb public as it is a collective of riders trying to seize (some of) the means of production. If I were a pro rider, I'd prefer to hold the value...
