7/20/2026 4:12pm I don't recall seeing info on the Blur 5 here yet, but I think both Tobin Ortenblad and Ruth Holcomb were on it at the BCBR.

7/20/2026 7:32am Yeah I wouldn't recommend that at all. Great way to ruin it. It's bad for it to be subjected to those chemicals and that heat for that period of time. Dishwashers are harsh AF. I take mine into the shower, put it on when I have shampoo in my hair, move it around a bit, get some shampoo into the straps, then rinse it all out immediately. Sounds stupid but shampoo seems to do a better job with odors than anything else, and it's the fastest/easiest way of washing it that I've found.

7/20/2026 7:32am This seems like a terrible idea. It's not even safe to wash many dishes, pots, pans, and knives in a dishwasher. If anodized aluminum frying pans get pitted in a dishwasher, I'll pass on putting my helmet in there. Also a single dishwasher cycle uses anywhere between 3-5 gallons of water per cycle, or even as much as 10 gallons for an old model (although I suspect Mads isn't using a dishwasher from 1995). But even if it's three gallons, that's an insane amount of water to wash a bike helmet.

7/19/2026 5:41pm Can we please not turn this into a d*ck-measuring contest regarding who rides which steep thing w/ which gearing?

7/19/2026 2:22pm I've not heard of this org before but they claim " Our volunteers serve on the ASTM helmet standards committee and are active in commenting on actions of the Consumer Product Safety Commission." They say " Dishwashers damage bike helmets" and have a write-up w/ pics. Looks like all/mostly kid helmets but AFAIK the standards are the same for kid...

7/19/2026 1:10pm Fred, are you just running a 2x crank in front and droppin down manually when needed for those long grinds the puttin the chain back up onto the larger ring for the descents? Some guys around here (SW Colorado, lots of long steep high altitude grinds in the high country) used to do that too. No front derailleur. Just the double ring. Takes about 10 seconds to move it between rings. I don't run that setup, but I do run a 28/52 for the same reason as you and also because its a bit easier on my knees for steep...

7/16/2026 2:27pm "Saddleback, the major UK cycling distributor that entered administration on 29 May 2026, had a more complicated last few years than previously known. New public filings and accounts from former employees show the owners taking dividends out of the business even as it took on large bank loans and built up debts to more than 150 creditors, many of whom...

7/14/2026 5:19pm Pretty stoked about what's going on w/ light, short-travel bikes these days, I feel like maybe brands are finally figuring out that this class of bike in this weight range will work for most/many people for most of what they ride (but maybe that's just me...)

7/14/2026 5:16pm Sorry, I must be high. I saw Post Mount but read Flat Mount, which is specced on the current gen Lux World Cup frame. I agree, Post Mount is appropriate here. I'm stoked now to realize that Canyon has moved away from Flat mount on this bike.

7/14/2026 5:09pm It's a shame there is no way to adjust the height of your handlebars. If you bike's stack is 10mm lower than you'd like you just have to put up with it.It's really unfortunate.

7/9/2026 12:44pm I could give this a go, would back to back race sim laps be enough to provide accurate results? At least in a way that it is consistently one way or the other?

7/7/2026 4:55pm Let me say more clearly what was implied in my previous post: those old road bike rolling resistance tests tell me that our own internal rolling resistance gauges in our brains are not very trustworthy. I'm not convinced that radial tires roll slower because the only evidence we have is that they feel like they roll slower. 21mm tires pumped up to 120 psi feel fast as hell on asphalt. As you go faster, you get more and more vibration feedback from the tire, giving the sensation of greater and greater speed. A 32mm tubeless GP5000 pumped up to 60...

7/7/2026 1:13pm Slow clap. Part of the reason why road bikes came with 19-23mm tires pumped up to 120+ psi is because they felt faster than bigger or softer tires, and because of flawed test methodology (testing tires on smooth steel drums in a lab vs. testing on real asphalt). I've heard a lot of people in the tire forum say that radials roll slower, and they certainly might. But until I see actual test results using a methodology that makes sense, I'm going to assume that no one knows the answer to that question.
