Hey StudBeefpile, this is Charlie Sponsel. I live in Silverdale and I'm on the board of Evergreen Westsound. I'm helping lead an Evergreen work team to "flowify" the trail Derailed right now, and I'd love to hear your feedback more in detail. Never wrapped a frame. Ride them til the wheels fall off. Hah Honestly never seen a buyer who was like "I was gonna buy your bike but this guy's doesn't have scratches so I'm buying it". But I also realize thr world is full of people far more anal retentive who sleep better knowing their baby is bubble wrapped. It's all good.

I'm disappointed that you hold this viewpoint Jeff. If it does nothing then why are you affected by it? It does something for me. While I'm not black, I've been at the receiving end of racist remarks. A friend hated the Chinese and said they all should be bombed and killed. Even if I wasn't part Chinese I couldn't let a remark like that go. In the end though, no one else from my group of friends stood up for me so I left. When Commencal or any other bike brand "virtue signals" like this, it gives me hope that...

9/9/2020 11:21am This is what I do as well, never run the chain through a cleaner or soak it in solvent. Wipe clean and lube. I'm a fan of Dumonde Tech lube.

this varies widely based on how dry your climate is. my strategy probably doesn't work for somebody who lives in the PNWet. that said: modern chains come pre-impregnated with grease. you will never get lube back into the places that grease is once it is washed out. so, in order to preserve that grease, I only really lube the rollers, and i really only wipe the chain with a cloth to get dirt off, with maybe a little solvent sprayed only on the cloth to get dirt to break free easier. Disagree on all points. 38's still creak, and nothing compares to the stiffness of a dual crown fork for big holes, steep terrain, and heavy braking. If you're in a bike park there's no need for 12 speeds, and the longer chain and derailleur cage are much more likely to make clack-clack noises and get bent. Lastly, it's not a coincidence that Fox makes the most durable seatposts and the ones with the highest stack height. Bushing overlap = durability. Pretty simple.

Had the same experience. 5 minute service. Use the correct clutch grease. Running smooth and fine. Curiously dry to start though. Makes me wonder if the correct or grease, enough grease or any grease was on the clutch to begin with.

Bite point- just do a quick fluid top off every couple months and its fine. Its regular maintenance just like a lower service.

I'm saying it in the current context, within the current movement to highlight certain inequities which tend to be toned down or directly shadowed by the statu quo. If you are white and middle class in the US, you detent some privileges other minorities don't. Here in the MTB community the presence of not Caucasian personalities is scarce at best. To be clear: I'm not advocating for an uproar or any other violent behavior. I'm just saying most if the populace might be accustomed to using certain terms regularly, but if we want to move to a more equal society...
