Moab is hit and miss in February- snow or t shirt weather. maybe go for a guaranteed warm spot and leave options to check out Moab or Sedona pending weather

SoCal has good riding spots, Laguna Beach, Simi Valley, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo are the spots I'm most familiar.

The brakes and tires are key. My daughter has the 16” Commencal- running like 8psi in the same vee tires for grip and cushion. and with disc brakes she can ‘walk’ down steep sections still on the seat- both feet out and holding the brakes.

It is probably a great bike, but that model is built with the same parts as you would find on a WC XC race bike, fox 34s, XC carbon wheels and tires etc. Not really comparable to a 35lbs trail bike. I Wish everyone would just list frame weights, parts are all third party and not specific to the frame anyway.

A 36 lbs e bike is probably equivalent to a 29 lbs trail bike. Light tires, lots of carbon, not durable. a 36 lbs trail bike is hopefully cheap and durable

This is the point where we need the Walton's to fire up a North American race series.

"Conservative geometry" on a 160mm bike with 64 degree HTA and 78 degree STA. How the times have changed.

This makes me very happy. I doubt push can complete at a lower price. Not discarding their engineering but it’s just impossible without the volume that RS does.

Yes but it was a dh bike and it had the shock mount, and I didn’t want to worry. On previous projects I’d used 1.5x.049 4130 for the DT. I cracked one due to bad gusset design. that’s always my concern with home made bikes- testing is always by the rider.

We did, Foes used to do it and I have it on one of my retro rides the Taillefer Maxxis Team used and the year after this version they used it on the production version. Theres nothing new in the MTB world everything is just being rehashed from the 90's or they realised back then and made designs that worked before the companies milked consumers like in todays world with a new fad every couple of months.

Yes that proto was sitting on display at the old building. Aluminum 3 piece lowers glued together. Could be a way to manufacture lower quantities? Lots cheaper and faster than prototyping with a casting tool.

also not really cool story, but anyone who has been to Skyline bike park in Queenstown would have shared a lift with a pro. It's a cool experience and you realise they are just a normal person like you. First time I went there, I landed on a Wednesday and the park was empty, but Remy Morton was there. We rode together pretty much all day, showed me Dream track (I just watched) and then down to Atlas for a beer by the lake. Best day.

I once saw the specialized gravity team doing practice laps at crestline and got a picture with Loic. Pretty sure we're best friends now. My friends and I rebuilt telonics and PG's a few days before the MadCats Iron Horse team showed up to film for Earthed 4. Hill, Rennie and Atkinson and I are still best friends even though we've never spoken.

Another old story: I was about 16 years old (in the 90s) and I used to go to the national races by train and then by bike (DH-ish kind of bike) climbing up mountains with my backpack filled with a tent, sleeping bag, and spare parts. The race promoter (Georges Edwards) was impressed by my grit and invited me to the VIP dinner, I got to eat with Nicolas Vouilloz, Giovana Bonnazzi, Taillefer, Jurgen Beneeke, Grancois Gachet and all the big names from this era.
