learmiller Liked a reply to forum topic What to expect changing stem length/bar height

The taller the position on the bars, the more leverage you have on picking the front end up, as I find bikes getting longer with more wheelbase, the bars also need to come up in height for the bike to behave how I like it too.

Battery for your brakes, battery for your dropper, battery for your drive train. Sounds like a big ole pointless pain in the butt. Electric shifting I'm not totally against because I see how that could actually work better than cable actuated systems, but brakes and droppers are already flawless for how I use them. The 'benefits' of this technology are nowhere near justifying the extra cost and battery maintenance, IMO.

I've had avid brakes fail on me on 2 different bikes, one a rental while coming downhill in Topanga CA, the other my Camber Pro in Kansas. In Ks it was an annoyance but I finished the ride. In Ca I went over a berm and cartwheeled down a hill. So fuck anything that adds more complexity to brakes. Think about your Bluetooth phone, it connects to your car without issue everyday for a year. Then out of nowhere you have to reset the phone, or the car, or both. This is a stupid idea and whoever thought of it...

Neat concept, and I like seeing people tinker, but no way would I ever use wireless brakes. I don’t care how much R&D goes into it. I’ve got no intention of even getting wireless shifting, would only look for a bike without it. But keep in mind I’m just a guy who rides a clapped out 14 year old bike...

I'd consider 3 important aspects that would need to be solved for wireless brakes to be a feasible - Lag: did you notice how long it takes for the brakes to actuate after the lever pull? There are faster wireless systems out there that might work better (RS Reverb AXS seems to do okay in this department), but the mechanical component is also at fault: to have any meaningful braking power, you need a lot of force, which probably means a big reduction gearbox, which means slow movement. - Feedback: There's no way I can modulate a brake without the...

As title says - looking to buy 22.2mm chromoly dirt jumper bars in black. Would like something with a decent amount of rise, anywhere from 2-4 inches. Not too concerned about width as long as they're wider than 26 inches. Ideally in good condition. My local shop doesn't stock anything dirt jumper related and I haven't had much luck finding...

You'll want to keep travel in mind, as going with a new fork with less travel would result in a lowered front end and everything else that comes with that. Mainly HT angle

yes should be possible, you may need new headset bearings as a Dual crown has a different steerer tube diameter. The Geo could be quite close to been stock, if I remember correct a 190mm zeb or 180mm 38 has the same Axle to crown as a 200mm DH fork. But in short, yes definitely can be done with a bit of parts swapping.

The mullet set up is awesome if the bike is designed around it or has the ability to compensate for it. That process-x already has a low bb and a slack head angle and would be even slacker and lower with a 27.5 rear wheel which will make it difficult to ride. If you could correct for the change in geo it could be an option, but I would stick to the 29. I stuck a 27.5 on the back of the previous gen firebird 29 and it was not good. My current bike is mulleted but has a link...

You decide how you want to spend your money. I'd just suggest if you do it, keep the steerer tube longer than you think so you can swap it to another frame when the upgrade fever resurfaces.
