Some carbon rim manufacturers (ENVE, We Are One) specify 2X lacing for their wheels because the angle at which the nipple interfaces with the rim is less extreme.

Half-silver spokes, half-radial front wheel, freaky frankenshock. This is an utter abomination and I love it!
