Edit: Total Atherton (Robot) Bikes team disruption of manufacturing a bike. Atherton's certainly putting their necks out on a new bike brand with a completely different process. Either way, stoked to see how the bikes turn out and how big the brand can grow. And doubly stoked to see how fast they can make them go at the World Cups.

Interesting. I draw parallels to other industries where an athlete partners with someone to start a brand. Thing I can't really figure out is if the volume of bikes produced through a company with a model like Robot Bikes is significant enough to float a WC race team. I don't buy that. DT clearly labels their wheels 26, 27,5 or 29 as in inches,w hile the widths are 22,5, 25, 30, 35 and 40 for their X(R), (X)M and E(X) series of rims and wheelsets. And the widths are not marked with the number directly, the XM series of rims is labeled as XM 401 (22,5 mm), XM 421 (25 mm), XM 481 (30 mm), XM 521(35 mm), while the 1900, 1700 and 1501 wheelsets are labeled with the width of the rim directly. But still, there has been no 29 mm wide rim from them. I can't...

YES! Marin has always been the laid back hippy roots brand from the birthplace of mountain biking. Since those legendary Mount Tam trails and fire roads aren't available to ride, why not take it straight to the World Cup? They've already hired Matt Jones in the freestyle category, to great effect (They've got me subscribed at least.) the next obvious step is a DH race team, easily realized through their relationship, ownership, with Polygon, who have a very successful race team. (Which was one of the few to beat Ratchel at the World Cups.) Apologies to my former English teacher...
