Brian_Peterson Added a reply to E-bike talk: not tech rumor derailment
7/25/2026 7:35am That is the manufacturer playing a little fast and loose since currently in most states the class structure are more suggested than regulated.. Nowhere in any class 3 description is a throttle mentioned.

7/19/2026 7:36am If Tahnee retires early, I won't be surprised. She seems to be dealing with concussion symptoms and rider are taking that more seriously than we've seen in decades past.. She can still uncork a race winning run, but at what cost? Still so much that is unknown when it comes to TBIs...

7/17/2026 11:33am I'm in the same boat... I have a Trance that I want to rebuild at some point and replacing the 34 with a 130mm 36SL is on the list of things I want to upgrade being a not so light rider...

7/17/2026 11:31am I’m a heavily bias Norco fan over here. They just don’t build light bikes. When they did, they broke. Saying that… I definitely prefer a chonky bike as I have a chonky presence. I haven’t ridden a newer Pike, but a chassis from a few years ago felt like a wet noodle under me. The smallest chassis I feel comfortable on is a Lyric. I think they had clydesdales like me in mind for that Fluid.

7/17/2026 10:25am Agree. If you have spent any real time on the SID you'll know it's no Pike when it comes to damping quality. The chassis is fine but the damper gets a bit overwhelmed when in proper chunk. I have a SID equipped bike and it's awesome in the right terrain but it'll let you know when it's not happy. There is still a place for the Pike, especially with the weight gain of the latest Lyric.

7/17/2026 8:38am If i was placing bets, I'd wager the 35mm Sid chassis gets a bump to 130 to cover that small gap in the lineup...

7/17/2026 5:08am I used to tell people back in the 11 speed days to choose what was important to them and choose the front ring appropriately.. If you were a weaker climber and didn't mind losing a some top end, go 28 or 30...

7/15/2026 8:32am Well, When Conroy’s dad helped him buy Yeti 20+ years ago, Yeti sorta became Yeti again… The late Scott/early Volant years were the only time I can recall Yeti not being as invested in bike racing as they were in Agoura Hills or Durango, but the entire mtb racing world collapsed in on itself at the turn of the millennium anyway. Yeti painted themselves into a corner with the decade they spent focused on Enduro(after shuttering their ownership of Mountain States Cup), but they opened those sample molds for pumptrack and dh bikes a few years ago and have been...

7/14/2026 6:41pm I heard something interesting today... And I gotta say, the comparison makes sense to me.. Frameworks today is what Yeti was back in the day.. Small team that found the talent gave the opportunity and support to succeed. Thoughts?

7/14/2026 8:40am While my overall ebike experience is limited, it seems to me all the bikes I've ridden tend to work better spinning the legs as opposed to pushing the hard gears..

7/13/2026 6:30pm I like this concept .. The only drawback I see is what kind of range do you put on the six external gears? Do you focus towards climbing since speed is limited by the motor anyway? Find a middle ground to keep the derailleur cage as short as possible? With electronics syncing everything, it could feel similar to a traditional...

7/13/2026 6:21pm Congratulations, you invented Hammerschmidt. In my opinion, and I've already talked about this, something like a Classified hub could be potentially viable for mtb use, but coupled with a 6 speed wide range cassette. Think skipping every second gear we have currently and having around 40 % jumps between gears. The gap in between those is handled by the internal hub. Obviously the derailleur would have to be electric then and the buttons on the handlebars would control both the derailleur and the internal hub as the latter would shift every time with the derailleur shifting only every other gear...

7/13/2026 6:14pm That makes alot of sense in my opinion.. Especially if the Specialized rumor is true. So coming in with a fully developed motor and nobody using it makes for a hard sell. I do believe that Amflow was originally a proof of concept that ended up taking on a life of it's own. If you think about it, the timing was pretty good for them.. The legacy brands are in trouble and they have financial backing that anyone in the bike industry would give up a body part to get.. Now, like mentioned in in pod, not only can they...

7/13/2026 7:11am As far as I know, the Shimano motors all use similar physical dimensions.. Batteries could be the biggest hurdle, but Gobao offers at least 4 different Batteries currently. So, there's a chance one of them could work..
