Regarding the cassettes, I took the who needs a 52t as including everything above 50t vs older 11spd cassettes (considering ebikes were mentioned). The jump is stupid (haven't really tried it, but you can see that from a mile away), but it was the cheapest way to "oneup" Shimano by keeping the steel rings the same as they were. The new cassette confirms this as it's all new and doesn't have a big jump. As for who needs it... I wouldn't mind a 54t, then I could run a 32t chainring instead of the 30t and could theoretically run a...

As someone with a 50t Eagle (2017 GX, still going strong!) I felt that the 52t was there purely because Shimano made a 51t. The 50t is enough, and feels reasonable. If they are trying to refine the groupset, I would understand them adjusting the ratios at the top end. Though, my opinion is based around 27.5-inch wheels. For me, I only use the 50t on super steep roads...

Oh, see I use the 52 as a bailout gear, its as an option to walking. So that jump is fine, and welcomed cause I use the bike as an 11 speed mostly. Not stupid, just not optimized for your use case. Not all things are for everyone, they all have a place

Sure sure, no shade meant toward any individual who’s happy with the setup. I talk kind of snarky sometimes. I’m sure SRAM sold a ton of the 10-52s and that lots of customers are plenty happy. Same time, it’s not at all an uncommon critique, there’s not another drivetrain out there with such a big jump, and they’re changing it...

Was going to say the same. I’ve got XTR on one bike and XT on another, and wear seems plenty durable on both for me. I have a low bar for putting new chains on, and also do the nerdy crockpot chain wax thing so my drivetrain runs reeeeaaaalllll clean. Maybe the Swiss cheese dude who ran thru his cassette...

For my bike with SRAM kit on it, I won’t run a 52 because 1) it’s a really light downcountry bike and doesn’t need it, and 2) that 10 tooth jump is just stupid. It looks like they’ve gone for more even jumps between gears on this new gen tho. I’d have no issue with using a 52t low gear...

When AXS first launched 4 or 5 years ago or whenever it was, pricing was 1900usd for X01 in a groupset that included crankset/chain/cassette/derailleur/controller/charger. I wonder what the new $1599 group consists of? That's twice the price of the current "upgrade kit" which is just derailleur/controller/charger, which, ooof that'd be rough if that's what we're talking about. On the other...

Thanks for the keyword! Found a shop listing for the group. https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/en/sram-xxsl-t-type-eagle-transmission… $2425 for a power meter kit, can't verify it much though. EDIT This site has a BB with new part numbers. Looking at the list XX and XXSL are different products both using the "T-Type" Chain. https://www.sykkel.no/komponenter/sram-kranlager-spacer-kit-dub-mtb-wid… 2ND EDIT XXSL T-Type Chain https://www.tradeinn.com/bikeinn/en/sram-xxsl-t-type-eagle-hollowpin-t-… $132.99 (maybe) I also found some T-Type Apex stuff so it looks like there will be a pretty big overhaul of the product line.

I think the plan is to have: XX, Deluxe XX, Super Deluxe XX, Super Deluxe XX Select, Super Deluxe XX Select Plus, Super Deluxe XX Ultimate, Super Deluxe XX Ultimate SL, Super Deluxe XX Ultimate SL AXS, and, of course, Super Deluxe XX Ultimate SL AXS Flight Control™ B52 C130 with Electrolytes.

I have no doubt the price will be $$$, but I'm skeptical of this. Maybe something was lost in translation going from aussie bucks to freedom dollars? XX1 chains are ~$90 bucks. Current flattop RED chains are $75 at msrp. It would be pretty egregious to have a literal 160% price increase. Also—XX SL AXS? Are there going to be...

jesus wept, The amount of whinging from you lot on a forum specifically about tech rumours and innovation is astounding to me. Primoz, man, like I said, theres tonnes of brand new XX1 out in the world, go buy it so you no longer have to worry. I can only assume you have tried AXS on your mtb, strangely everyone Ive spoken to that owns it, absolutely loves it. Ive seen many online complaints, but I dont put too much stock into that, cause often its people weirdly expressing opinions about something they know very little about those of you...

With the Trek on the non-drive side, and the Nomad in soft focus, there's not much detail to see, but Miranda's bikes in today's SRAM announcement are clearly set up with the new stuff. You can tell the crankset is different than current models, you can see that the controller pods are the new shape, and—I could definitely be wrong...

There's bound to be a 200mm version coming. Unsure what other changes will be coming along with that, but the controller pods have 2 distinct buttons on them, so it seems probable that there's more than just the addition of a new length to the lineup.

Most people warp tires putting them on and not knowing how. Every time I see a 3c dh or Dd casing being put on with tire levers and that person's pushing too hard because they aren't pushing the bead into the rim enough, 75% chance that's coming out warped. You just see more maxxis because more people run them, like there were more broken Kona Stinkys out there back in the day because every hack hitting tree's at full pull had one. I can't think of many times ive put a maxxis tire on a wheel in 15 years that...

Not sure about your reliability comment.. I've never had a problem in 10+ years using them. What would be nice is some innovation, think they got too comfortable. My next tyres will be conti as I'm well and truly sucked in by the marketing & reviews!
