Only time will tell, it’ll be interesting to see where it does end up. Personally I hope it dies a quick relatively pain free death and it doesn’t lead to bike companies sinking a heap of money into sub par bikes as has been implied previously in the forum.

Unsure.. in downhill we went from 26 to 27.5 to 29, and then back to 29/27.5 - it kind of seems like we found the ceiling.

Advocate of the devil: 90% of the questional business decisions YT made where during the time YT was owned by private equity. I am not saying at all Markus is a good guy, but there is a possibility he was not the reason YT went south.

Yes, exactly. It'd be a very valid test because for people who are only going to have one bike, it will tell them what they're sacrificing for that extra travel. They probably won't be using DH tires on their long-travel trail bike if that's the only bike they have and they pedal up. Lots of people over-bike because they like the extra squish. My 170/165 is built up mostly the same as my 160/145, and not very different in spec than my 160 hardtail.

I think the advantage would be that you would then add more dropper post travel either by installing a new post or simply adjusting the shims on certain models like the Oneup or PNW dropper ranges

Some comments here. Worn vs. new tire: from weighing them, a worn tire usually loses 15-40 g (26", 2.4/2.5). Because your sealant most likely has partially dried up, most of the weight addition comes from fresh sealant. Rotating weight: the farther on the outside of a wheel, the more you will feel the weight from a ride dynamic point of view. So saving 100 g on the hub won't be noticed much, but on the tire it will. Weight reduction on the hub will be noticed when you consider suspension action though, because unsprung weight. I think you are right...
