Am I the only who thinks Scott is going backwards with the hidden shock? Sure it helps with a somewhat sleek look but it just seems like a pain to adjust a dial here or two…

nifty idea but I'd shy away because it would be an additional exposed component that needs cleaned and is susceptible to a stick getting in there and putting me over the bars, I have enough trouble with my drivetrain as-is. a cover could help convince me to try it but at that point we're just getting back closer to a...

Yo @oliwiermikolasz which headset (exactly) did you use? Trying to find the right parts to accommodate a tapered steer tube fork, ideally with an angleset for the same rig

Curious what y'all know about the new Specialized tires with tire dampening technology. Is that like a mud conditions tire for wet terrain? Or is it a dry tire, but it dampens the dirt so it becomes wet and tacky?

Good looking out, XR checks all the boxes - frame storage, tons of flip chips+headseat adjustment, mullet/29 compatible, but full build leaves some componentry lackluster... Calling around trying to find a frame!

Not to bring the wireless debate back up, but that's the one scenario I'd own a wireless dropper. That, and if the battery powered droppers would lower themselves. I'm betting it's 148 with the plethora of DH bikes that have gone that direction recently: YT, GT, Transition, Forbidden, Frameworks, Spesh (ahead of the curve on this one lol?)

I think a mullet Scout is pretty much guaranteed, the only question is when. Given the state of the market, I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to consolidate their lineup by merging the Scout and the Sentinel. One frame for mullet or 29 with some geo adjustments would be pretty cool. I’d seriously consider opening up my wallet if they did.

Everyone needs to learn how to ride on a hardtail. Should have to pass a test to buy a squishy bike.

Shimano making their brake clamps part of the lever instead of making it a replaceable part is worse than the wandering bite point. Keeping it loose enough to move during a crash doesn't always work and now I have to buy an entire new lever? c'mon

The man took innovation to a whole new level. 0X front derailleur, shifting is synced to the cloud. I bet his headtube is double tapered. The issue most people have is that transmission is heavy and extremely expensive. Its really that, it's driving up the overall cost of running a quality setup, and that's rightly frustrating.

Something I find interesting about this whole thread derailment w.r.t. opinions on wireless drivetrains: Since I started paying attention to mtb in the early 2010s, there has always been a reactionary design (or lack of design?) movement in smaller companies while the big ones drove a consumer market. When carbon-fibre frames became a more common sight in gravity-oriented riding, small companies would advertise their aluminium or steel construction. When the big corps pushed for 29-inch wheels, small companies would advertise their 27.5-inch wheeled bikes (or, for some time, 26-inch!). But throughout this pattern (which is admittedly weak), it has always...

I'm with you in hopefulness, but I think the critical difference between Propain and SC is the former is still a relatively small company, latter is owned by PON Holdings and being managed as a profitable investment rather than a core mtb brand. I'm imagining an intern at SC looking at this forum, agreeing with everything, escalating the feedback to...

Am I the only one who thinks the empty holes for cable housing on wireless equipped bikes looks rad? (FWIW, I don't think Jeeps with the doors missing look rad lol) I'm totally fine with wireless drivetrains if they can make it cost $200 like my 11sp Deore. I don't break derailleurs too often, but when I do I really love that they're $45 from my local shop and even cheaper (around $30) grey market. I just don't think I'd hang $100+ from the most vulnerable part of my bike. That money is better spent on literally any other component...
