Even with TS/SCI, they have access to very limited information from the DoD. Just enough that they can produce hardware/software that the government needs. That's how it works. Just because Anduril has deployed systems in the battlefield, it doesn't mean they know anything beyond the requirements for the systems they develop. When I mention decision makers, I'm specifically talking about...

I'm an engineering manager in aerospace that spends a lot of time with customers at various DoD agencies. Can confirm that none of the people actually making decisions will ever go on a Podcast or any social media platform. The fact that he feels comfortable going on Joe Rogan and spewing all of that information just tells you that he...

My uncle is a retired 3 star and former ceo of one of the big defense contractors. Still is on the board of directors for a few of them. I’m not going to bother him for his opinion. But this lucky dude seems extremely young and out spoken to be much of a player in that industry. The majority of guys making decisions are in their 50s and 60s, spent a lot of time in the pentagon either in a military or civilian role and have zero inclination to step into the limelight. I’m sure their are outliers but going...

i just wanted to say how much i appreciate the discussion you're all having about this, keeping it thoughtful and caring. whether you're for or against the level of risk, i think it's clear that everyone here cares about the riders first and foremost, and that makes me proud of this community. some care that the riders have the freedom to make their own choices, some care about protecting them from exploitation or going too far. regardless of outlooks, thank you for all the input and experiences and sharing. no matter what, i hope that all the injured riders make...

Wow, that is a very slick and professional-looking one-off prototype fork...it almost looks like a sellable product as-is! Looking forward to ride reports and updates!

Reach out if you want more guidance on tools and how best to use them. We've been using this technology at the aerospace company I work for over the last 10+ years. It's even better when you pair it with 3D printing, but 3D printing metal parts is extremely expensive for one off parts.
If you're interested in reducing weight, and have the funds, look into topology optimizations and constrain the application to something you can machine. You can shave a lot of weight out of that without going all the way to 3D printing wild geometries.

also a danger that it'll turn into a trend of brake-dragging, traversing runs with a single notable hit since Stark is there (wah wah they won't let me put a rail in last minute to look like a rebel even when I overshoot it or building a hit that I can't land at rampage cause it's not a video seg with 3 weeks of build/practice). my proposal: 5 days to build, 1 hour between runs to adjust, highest score of 3 runs counts, with subcategories of biggest drop, wildest trick, roughest chute. 6 day event. fuck ESPN and commercial requirements.

#1 feature is not being a hip pack. I've tried several and they tend to move around a lot (especially loaded) and pressure the lower stomach uncomfortably on long pedals. Vests are far superior.

I think the chassis was unchanged, that the differences were in the piston/shim/cone-valve parts and the knobs were anodized red. You could view it as a very custom tune. Those damper parts are CNC machined whether you follow the existing DVO design or make the cone-valve parts. Making new CNC parts just means you start with a different program on the CNC. Designing and tuning those parts might've been little more than a fun distraction for WP's damper design/tuning guy if he was tinkering with his own ebike prototype.

Brines – thanks for those finance blogs, some solid reads in there. I’m subscribing. On Rapha (and bike apparel in general), saw someone in the thread say, “Walmart bought it, I’m out.” Bit unfair, no? It wasn’t Walmart—it’s the Walton grandsons. Say what you want, but they’re bike fans. And if we’re being honest, if any of us were billionaires, we’d probably scoop up some cool bike brands too. I think they’ve also got their hands in Allied and Wahoo? Honestly, not the worst portfolio if you’re trying to uplift cycling. Rapha’s got a new CEO too, and from what...

He's not just saying so. It's an established fact in the engineering world for bolted joints. Every single torque spec should always include whether that spec is for lubed or non-lubed threads. The fact that the bike industry doesn't do this is mind boggling.

When the poors started showing up to group rides in Rapha on last model year's bike, PNS and MAAP were standing by ready to rinse the REAL roadies with even more muted earth tone offerings.

Honestly their knee pads were so good if they focused more on practical apparel for MTB and less on rinsing roadies for everything they had, I feel like they could do very well. That said, I thought rinsing roadies for their last penny was a nearly recession-proof model. Kinda like a constant of the universe. Death, taxes, roadies overpaying for microscopic gains to their cycling experience... Need to grab another pair before they can't be found anymore.
