Any 2.3mm rotor will be a much better performer with the Hopes, I have no recent experience with Shimanos. 2.05mm Daechle HD from Trickstuff work for me very well, too, so that may be good middle road for you.

So much this. Plus, while I'm not fully up to speed on battery tech and don't know this for sure, I think the main benefit of solid state batteries isn't the energy density per Se but their safety. They are solid in the sense of not having a liquid electrolyte and thus can handle much higher rates of charge and discharge. And are safer under extreme cases (fire). All good things for cars, not much use for push bikes honestly. As for reactors, it makes much more sense to utilise the ones here on the ground vs. the one in...

Would not recommend Santa regarding your comment to prefer flexier frames. Am currently on a Bronson V5 and it is the stiffest frame I have ever owned.

Hey all, I can finally take off my very sneaky blue tape camouflage to reveal that yes, I’m reviewing the new Nomad. Because I’ve spent so many years on the old Megatower, I’m framing this as a Megatower vs. Nomad comparison. Especially interesting for me because of the rumors that the Megatower is going away and the new Nomad does not take 29” rear wheels. I only have a couple rides in on the new bike, but so far the geometry feels really good and the bike feels solid and stout. Weirdly I haven’t been able to figure out the...

Bring back the OG Rock Razor Super Gravity but in a true 2.4 or 2.5. Or a Slaughter in Grid Gravity. I miss that era of tough, fast rear Gravity tyres!

Why not get a Madrone instead of a bunch derailleurs that require a lot of maintainance and not even working that well spending the same if not more for something much weaker, soft

As a data point of one, our house in rural CA is almost completely off grid. We just upgraded to new solar panels, single LiIon battery, and inverter, mostly from Midnite Solar. We can run the house for 2-3 days on a single day of sun, without much in the way of conservation. With two or three batteries that would be even more. With California utility rates, I expect the cost of the system to break even in less than 4 years. Plus, no outages. That said, we just bought our first ever new car and went with a hybrid...

Sounds like a 27.5x2.5 Trail Pro Romy Radial Soft would be ideal

Is this an opportunity for bike tool companies to give us accessories for their hanger tools to get us something similar for much less $$$?

who failed ? The engineer who designed the caps for hexagon bolts? Or the fitter who just crammed in some Allen screws?

I like the 27.5x2.6 Soft SuperTrail Hans Dampf as a fun-inducing front tire for light trail duty. The closest Romy is the 2.5 Gravity radial behemoth that weights almost 1300g, and the 2.4 Romy looks quite a bit narrower than I like them. Oh well. #650Bforevah

Will the DirtyDan come in the radial casing with new ultrasoft rubber on time for next autumn/winter season? The DH casing dans were harsh if you were not hauling ass in the mud as soon as you hit some roots or rocks, so I think there the softer casing would help quiet a bit for slower scnearios. Also, did the Radial Trail casing also get an update for more support like the Gravity Radial got?

Looks like the Romy availability in 27.5 size is very limited compared to the Hans Dampf. Any plans for adding more 27.5 options, or is 27.5 kaput?

As someone who's owned several Santa Cruz bikes (including Nomad 3 & 6), I'd say the Bronson is a safer bet for most people. Especially the current one (v5) which can basically be transformed into a Nomad with different stroke shock and longer fork. I liked my Nomad but LOVE my Bronson 5. Its just more fun more of the time.
