Skunk Works Suspension Liked a reply to forum topic Coil Shock Shootout
3/4/2025 8:59am The Vorsprung shock is somewhat similar to a CC Double Barrel in that they are both twin tube designs like Ohlins pioneered. The Telum has the most interesting design out of the bunch with a solid main piston and very unique means of adjusting the compression and rebound damping curves. It wins "showroom feel" as well, I have never felt a shock so supple and smooth. Perhaps a twin tube shootout with Cane Creek, Ohlins, Fox DHX2, and Telum? We're just getting started, big plans for the future. 👍

3/4/2025 8:57am Round one of the Coil Shock Shootout: five rear shocks tested on a short section of mostly downhill trail. The shocks have all been tuned for the same bike, and are using the same spring. All shocks have been setup prior to being tested. A Freelap system will record the time for each run, and a subjective measure of perceived speed or "feel" will be noted before looking at the actual time. The Test Rig 2023 Specialized Enduro running an Intend Edge fork, and O-Chain device. I feel the kinematics of the Enduro make it a good test rig with...

2/20/2025 5:37am My opinion... Used ebikes have the re-sale value of a pringles can left out in the rain for 4 weeks and full of water. Any real mileage on them (over 300-500) and there will be practically no interest, even at 50% under msrp. Not a shocker, but it's a turn in the market where your ownership decisions are now impacted by that. Previously, the move was either get a new ebike every year before the depreciation got gnarly, or just hold onto it and run it into the ground. Now the answer is clear, run it into the ground and...

2/19/2025 2:59pm Garbaruk posted on instagram that they have a new product announcing tomorrow, but a guy that I believe is sponsored by garabaruk seems to have pulled the trigger on his post early. Seems like Garbaruk is launching their own wheelsets, hubs, and spokes. Looks like some nice pieces, and it also seems like they have done a spoke very similar to industry nines "system" spokes. Lets just hope they dont charge like €3k+ for a set, which is what a I9 System carbon wheelset with multiple colors costs here in europe. Post says "reasonable pricing" - Who knows what that...

2/17/2025 6:15am I'm a big fan of testing, that part was cool. But missing some key points if the goal was to really compare steel to carbon as a frame material. (Sorry if this was covered at some point in the video, but it was too slow so I skipped around). 1) If you want to compare stiffness of different frame designs, that is great. But the frame shape, pivot locations and size, rockers links, etc all play a huge part in the overall stiffness numbers. To really isolate frame materials you would need two identical frame designs, with one made from...

2/10/2025 11:57am I didn't have a lot of time for Matt Jones before he started pumping out pre-hardline vids. Not that I had anything against him, he was just another in a sea of YouTube riders and I started to burn out from them a few years ago. But this event he really separated himself from the pack and it seemed like he massively improved the last month riding with everyone. Big fan of the vibe. Erice... Damn. Glad she's relatively ok but that's some scary shit. I hope she heals up well.

1/31/2025 5:33pm Who will the wildcards be? I wonder if they skip Goodman SantaCruz and Rogue Racing (secondary teams for a brand, or not the premier team for a frame sponsor) to give them to Yeti and Gwin (top level teams for frame sponsors)? Here's where we're at with all the UCI website team total points from finals. I went through every team to final all the riders that have points, although it looks like a couple of the minor teams might be folding or moving to continental such as Propain, Evolve, Meekboyz etc.

1/21/2025 7:55am As someone who is a huge fan of the current Float X, I don't know how you can release a 200mm DH bike with a float x as the only shock option and claim it's a serious race contender with a straight face.

1/16/2025 3:56pm Adidas, are you insane? The reason FiveTen is so big in MTB is because of Sam Hill. He literally made you in this industry. It’s insane they wouldn’t support him for the rest of his career. As for SRAM, I mean come on. How much has Sam given you in the exposure and advertising? One of the greatest riders ever to race, and in multiple areas of MTB. Both these brands should be ashamed.
