2/9/2024 12:01am I don't believe that is what's really going on for a couple of reasons. 1, rubber generally expands much more than aluminum when heated so adding heat makes the seal fit tighter. 2, when designing our calipers we found that without compression played less of a roll with pad retract than you'd think. Too little compression creates sealing issues and too much increases risk of compression set. What I think is mostly likely causing what they are experiencing is super hard braking. That happens to usually correspond with lots of heat. Since seal deflection controls pad retract, if you apply...

2/9/2024 12:01am From my experience with calipers, bolted vs mono block isn’t all that important as long as the bolted interface is done properly. That entails getting the fasteners as close to the rotor as possible and maximizing contact area between the two halves. Most the deflection should be between the joint/bridge and the bottom edge of the caliper regardless of how it’s constructed. In my mind for bikes, most the benefit of a mono block lies in packaging. Not having to worry about big bolts frees up space. The bridge across the center of magura calipers would be hard to fit...

If this is something you would do, or think is acceptable, please fuck off.

1/10/2024 2:18am This confirms a rumour I heard that due to budget cuts Joe and Lou will only be running intense front triangles. Lou will be carrying over half of her nukeproof contract and Joe is launching his new video series “The Swingarm Project”

9/27/2023 8:13am One thing that I hope they have considered if the whole E-EDR only in 2025 rumours are true: here in France E-bikes have been accepted quite early and more and more people buy them, most bikes I see on trails are electric at this point... But no one races them! At a regional enduro race, you might get 200 mtb racers and less than a hundred ebike racers. DH numbers seem to be trending upwards also. And I say this as a rider that only rides ebikes, does a bit of racing and tries to get some info about E-EDR...

3/22/2023 6:38am Yes, thats been a thing on a few bikes over the last few years. Most likely a cue towards the upcoming Sram E-bike motor system. Now when your battery dies, you cant shift into a lower gear to get your ultra heavy bike up the hill back home!

3/22/2023 5:14am Had a chat with one of EU shimano distribution team member around new year and, to summarize, he said shimano has no plan to respond to sram on high end products for the next 5 years (shimano production schedules already full and planned until then) but is working R&D to comeback strong at that point.

3/9/2023 10:49pm On high pivot design, you can get similar effect than switch infinity (or their 6 bar) by moving the pulley wheel instead of the main pivot. This is possible since pulley don’t need to accept different diameters with fixed tooth count.
