When you break a Magura MT7 lever save the clamp piece, it fits the Hayes Dominion lever. You can’t go the other way as the MT7 wood screws don’t fit thru the Dominion clamp holes.
Anyone figure out how to stop the bleed ports of TRP Evos from leaking all the time. O-ring? I tried drying out all the oil from the threads before putting back in the screw, Tried teflon tape and it wouldnt hold.
Have really been enjoying my Lewven brakes lately. LHP+ levers paired up with maven ultimates. Still have that wall of power when you lay into the brakes, but much lighter lever throw and still good modulation. Ran them for a week at whistler with no issues and even sold a friend on the Frankenstein setup and he is getting the same setup for his bike.
I kinda want to do that with Trickstuff or Radic master cylinders now ...
i'd love to do Radic Levers paired with Hope GR4 calipers honestly, the Maven calipers are a bit of a pain to bleed + the pistons don't move as freely as the Hope/Trp Ones
If you pair TS or Radic MC's with maven calipers, it will result in a soft bite point and a TON of freestroke. Both TS and radic use a 9mm MC piston with no cam mechanism. I've tried a Radic MC with a Magura gustav caliper which pretty much has the same overall piston area as a Maven caliper. You either need to have the brake constantly rubbing or have the reach miles out to have a proper bite point.
I'm not sure what size piston the LHP+ MC uses but it's likely between 9-10mm. The LHP+ lever also has leverage adjustment which can be used to take up the "slack" that comes from the larger difference in piston area between the MC and caliper.
LHP should have a 9mm piston.
I have paired a LH4 lever with a Cura 4 caliper. With the bleedblock installed the bite point is really good but with pads and disc it get's worse. Freestrocke is not that bad with the freestrocke adjustment almost fully closed.
The Radic mineral systems have apparently been much less reliable than the DOT, even with the new seal material. It’s super frustrating, I’d spec DOT or buy something else.
Interesting brake set up! Anyone else have Maven/Frankenstein brake set up with Maven calipers? Waiting on a bike with Mavens and curious what people has done with different levers. I saw on other forums some people did Maven calipers with shimano levers? May have some trp dhr levers laying around the spare bin parts and would be curious how it would feel with a maven caliper.
Did they give you ETA? The-LBS.com mentions 3-4 weeks ETA.
Sorry, I meant “the local bike shop” not “The-LBS.com” a website called the LBS is cause for much confusion. 😆
BTI (the distributor they ordered them from) still says they’re in stock.
There’s a chance they land tomorrow. 🤞
Edit: anyone can view the BTI catalog. It’s super useful if you want to know what your local shop can order.
Yeah, I understood you, the name of the online retailer is just a coincidence. I am surprised that one of the major online retailers of Hope in the US has 3-4 weeks ETA if BTI has them in stock. I saw them "in stock" at Bikeman that would obviously get them from a distributor, but their odd descriptions and odd stock situation (some colorways only available as RH/R) was exactly the same as 365 Cycles. I am going to let this rest.
The Hope Evo power levers are out of stock everywhere. Anyone have a source? The stock lever on the Evos are terrible
What do you mean by “terrible”, and what are you expecting to get from the power lever instead?
Way too curved. Wish they were longer. The tech 4 levers could been even longer imo
OK, the power lever will address that. It’s got less of a curve and is a bit longer (not by a whole lot, mind you…).
Good but where to source
Can’t help you with that one…

$120 plus tariffs (who knows how much). Pass.
Got hit hard from lordgunn last month
It amazes me how petty removing the low value exemptions is - it’s like another actively hostile way to stick it to people while misappropriating funds. I guess it’s possible they exempted the lever variant for tiny hands though?
wrong, you got hit hard by your government
It's okay though, the Tariffs will bring Hope back to the US where they so clearly belong, after they outsourced their engineering to Lancashire to make it cheaper 😂
This is exactly what I was telling, then shouting, then screaming, then giving up talking about to pro-tariff folks:
The quest to extract every cent of value from every nook and cranny it was hiding in ultimately lead to offshoring every single thing that could possibly be offshored...in the 90s and early 2000s. We've had 20+ years of NO real development in that area and any development that happened was then immediately offshored to do it at a lower cost.
In doing that, we've been hiring and giving on-the-job experience to anyone in another country who was willing to eat cheaply (or exploit their own laborers which is a another problem but not necessarily in the scope of this conversation). It's going to take Americans taking a huge paycut, literally fucking starving some of its population to death, and moving multiple generations of families into single households to afford to pay itself little enough to eventually bring its offshored stuff back in a profitable fashion.
AND it's going to take 20 years.
I hope Trump voters learn to make bootstraps cheaper because we're going to need a few extras.
Yes obviously
no politics please…..
The tech 4 levers fit!! Forget about power blades
Yeah indeed, I open this thread for brakes, fuck politics, it’s got no place here thanks.
Even if you were to buy them, shipment may be held up in international customs. I tried buying a pair of Schwalbe tires from bikeinn, and they never made its way stateside. held up in Netherlands and eventually Bikeinn just had them shipped back to their own warehouse.
lol, you were the one accusing an italian shop of shafting you when it was your very own goverment you probably voted for, judging by your reaction...
Honestly wish I could block the downvoters, it’s getting like pinkbike
duhhhhh lordgunn didn’t decide to tariff USA consumers…..
Stop the politics
