Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
what a race! lots to sort out! (my fantasy team got nuked LOL)
so looking at elite women's results sheet there is a question on points
the official results sheet has 10-15 place all awarded 50 points. this is different than what the rulebook says on page 62 (as @BGoldstone pointed out) where they should drop down 48, 44, 40, 35, 30 for 11-15. i'll probably wait to tally fantasy results until late this evening US time or maybe even tomorrow to see if this changes or holds up. whatever UCI says, is what our points will reflect.
UPDATE - the standings results page show accurate points that match UCI rulebook, so those will be used (48, 44, 40, 35, 30).
To me the worst thing about this is he appeared to be wearing a lanyard, so probably not just a random fan.
I would think the rulebook does not mention outside interference. Too much room for team members to guaranteee a rerun after their rider went down furtehr up track. But it bloody well sucked.

HH totally could’ve come to a stop there and made a face like OJ trying on that glove. “Ooopsie, this doesn’t work for me, gimme another go!” Instead she yelled out at the dipshit and used high level bike skills to avoid him. To each their own. I’d’ve clamped the brakes and hopped off my bike then and there, forced the issue. Conditions were so shitty though…maybe not.
RicMc should’ve asked the team manager he was sharing a booth with if he would’ve put up a protest for one of his riders in that situation. Would be interesting to hear about that, if it’s seen as reasonable or what the politics could be with such a move.
Props to Mullaly for the rape reference, that was solid. Force you guys to talk. He also seemed happy to let some of RicMc’s clunkers breathe a bit, always a fun move. And straight up saying “nah, despite what you two dudes just said about late tire choice stressing the teams out, it’s really not that complex. They’re gonna try and hit their marks and keep the mud out of their eyes.”
Kate Mason would’ve had a joke for Amaury’s f-bomb instead of waggling her finger at him. Whatever.
Highlights include RR churning those muddy flats into dry hardpack, reality show villain Bony Seagrave’s partnership with the Basques actually working (and the truck lol), and the coldest of the cold glacial Iceman Bruni on top. Permafrosty just wins while everyone else scrambles. Again.
I just bragged how I got up and watched live and my family rolled their eyes when I told them that Bruni won. “I could’ve told you that last night and you could’ve slept in.” True.
World Cup DH racing is so sick. They can change the format every week, keep it the same, new spots or race the same dumb track over and over…so great
Love it!
and whoa those belt bikes don’t look easy to pedal.
Would’ve been wild if she was granted a rerun and went on to win.
Impossible to argue that at the same time she wasn’t effected. Seemed to cause her to miss a drop and a ton of time. Could have easily lost positions despite being out of the running for a podium at that point. Definitely the most unusual part of today’s race.
tahnee and Anna seemed to be on another level. Impressive results for first races on new bikes in wild conditions.
Was there a condensed schedule or something? The first bunch of runs for men’s seemed to broadcast a much shorter time period than before. Honestly I didn’t mind other than wasn’t the whole point of cutting to 30 riders to show full runs. Seemed like they were doing 3 minute gaps for the first 15 or so. Which honestly I don’t mind. I don’t think full runs have made for a more compelling live broadcast (though the extra cameras are definitely appreciated for those last 5 or so runs). But maybe I was just way groggier than I realized this morning.

(210th for me...troy busted me up pretty good along w/ vali)
tried using chatGPT with a ton of quality prompts, my years of expertise to tune me up a winning Vital Fantasy team....I got worked, 312th or some crap, my missus smoked me, shes 70th and wont hear the end of it. I last minute traded in bruni to buy up some mid packers-what a bust.
Question for yall...I cant seem to find a replay anywehre on max. I see the events, m/w elite and junior, but now they just say "ended," as if if was live broadcast only and no way to watch a replay. Am I missing something?
I see em as replays on my MAX. I go to sports and search “UCI” and they come up available to watch now.
off/on that thing?
Is it just me or can 1/2 the riders in the field not do an interview without saying fuck???? I get being real on your socials but when WB is trying to secure sponsorship from businesses outside the mtb world, you might want to check what you say? Bigger sponsorship would bring the field larger payouts.
And as a parent of young ones that repeat everything.... they don't watch with me.
WynTV from race day
lots of gems in there (and f-bombs). 33:46 (i think) harriet harnden discusses the pedestrian on track and that UCI/officials didn't think it warranted a re-run. completely disappointing. every point in a championship counts.
Team results (1st page of doc only) and standings after 1 race
Someone’s gotta tell Danny us keyboard warriors have already issued a not guilty verdict on pole gate
Same! I thought that I was going crazy and missing something.
Crazy question...are you seeing today's replay or was it last years at Bielsko? I have tried everything to find the replay. We ended up watching the juniors on YouTube.
MAX app on iPhone!
What does this mean for Rouge Racing? Do they need to continue requiring a wild card entry or does this weekend cement them in there on merit?
Interesting. I have a max subscription through prime. I wonder if thats it? Very strange...I guess Im glad I'm not a crazy person and someone else has this issue. I also see 2024 races.
UPDATE: I could not access replays with Amazon Prime add-on Max subscription. I cancelled that plan and subscribed through Max directly and can watch with no issues. Prime is refusing to give me a refund, obviously, because they suck real bad.
WTF it's only a jump signal not a race limit 🥴
That’s infuriating, glad you figured it out!
Where the UCI meets Warner Bros and Amazon…truly on your own there. A black hole.
Thanks for that. We were trying on our tv.
Now I know why mine didn’t work then…ours was through my Amazon Prime also. Thanks!
it's a "jump signal" using the same marker that indicates course barrier lines. jump signals should be red or diff color as to not be confused with course barriers.
ok, american
Sorry I've seen the POV is now clear that is course limit there, crazy shit...
Cool comeback.....
But let's think about this. Do you want the racers to make more money? I can say I do and I am guessing, only guessing you do too. So how does that happen? They have to get outside of the cycling industry sponsorship. Pick a country and their companies that might want to join as a sponsor, they will have limits. Amaury got in some trouble a few years ago for his Insta post with braided hair and a quote using the N word. Commencal Mucaoff jumped on that real quick, a large company would have distanced themselves from that so much quicker. If these riders cant do an interview on camera without using language that could offend a sponsors customer base or a portion of that base there won't be any more money for them. Like it or not that is how advertising works.
And with the money going into it from WB and all the apologies they gave out on air at the 1st race of the year. Things will most likely change
Did we discuss the ridiculously large flight attendant lights or whatever they were? I forget who it was but one of the women had one facing forwards looked like an F1 car tail light. Then Loris was shining so bright into his face I could see the glare which had to be distracting as hell.
I think a simple small LED light would of been sufficient.
People who do not speak English as a first language do not understand how 'bad' of a word it is for those in English speaking countries. There is some science article(s) out there showing different activity in the brain when the former drops an F bomb (no concern) versus the latter (big deal).
Also, isn't this more Discovery's fault for not censoring?
There was a recent running in Rally/FIA that post-stage interviews are exempt from the profanity van because it's considered 'in the moment' of racing, just like race radios in F1 can include swearing (bleeped out for the broadcast).
