Not to be a hater because the YT looks sweet, but does YT just copy Spesh's suspension platforms or is it just me...

Vpp was developed by Outland Bikes in the late 90's and then licensed by Santa Cruz and intense. Neither developed it.

I think Specialized "borrowed" that platform for a slope bike from Dobermann and their Le Pink.

@JonnyDH I am aware of that, but still the m9 and v10 were different in a way. Now, the new bike is like a different version of the v10. I'm not hating or smth, just surprised that Intense chose that way.

@marshalolson Yeap, Rob Roskopp buys the patent from Outland Bikes around 1999

For a change...it's an Intense that I actually like! Not normally a fan of their lines but this one looks good.

Agreed. Let's just keep the neon away and all will be good.

Saw the Athertons riding on duct taped frames in Queenstown, so... Carbon fury?

Or probably the frames are snapped and the duck tape holds everything together? (kidding)
However, it will be a strange move for Gt to go back to carbon after their explanations how the alu frame weights less and so on. So... New frame from scratch?

Aluminum is always better when you don't have a carbon version to sell Wink

With the 650b debate done and dusted for DH racing I'd expect a few more carbon frames showing up this season

So is this how people will be getting a V10 in aluminum? Wink Obviously there are differences between the two (which I am sure the internet experts will jump all over), but the lines are getting pretty blurry now.

Lee's point is spot on. Plus, their alu frame is lighter than the old carbon frame, simply because the carbon frame was super heavy. If the new Fury gets made in carbon, it should be even lighter than the existing alu version. Would look pretty sexy for sure though

Actually all the big guns are pretty much set, only GT and Scott are missing carbon dh bike from the big manufacturers, I think (spec, trek, giant, SC, have them). What is missing is De Vinci, NukeProof, which doesnt appear too fond of carbon, Saracen and new Kona maybe...

I think it's a matter of time for Scott to go carbon,s ince they've been doing carbon since like forever. The thing is that supposedly different groups make the Gambler and Voltage lines as opposed to all the Genius and XC racing bikes, the latter of which are the carbon bikes.

As for Devinci, i wouldn't be surprised at them staying with alu, since they are not THAT big of a manufacturer (or are they?), but they do have more or less every other frame in a carbon version. So on the other hand i wouldn't be surprised if they did make a carbon Wilson again. But in a year or two.

I know not a "big gun" but Commencal has yet to go carbon. I would assume they have big plans for later this season having home field advantage for World Champs. Will they be bold enough to try carbon or stick with the proven aluminum frame with minor tweaks?

There is something new in the box at Commencal:

Is it my optical illusionary eyeballs or is Guardia's front tire stuffed up in that Boxxer crown? I know there's a fender on there but it still seems like a tight fit

I'd say it's the fender not conforming to the arch and being longer, therefore not showing the gap with light.

Commencal are sticking with aluminium, they've said it's cheaper and that carbon is not worth the bother for a company their size and that aluminium is good enough. They used to have carbon Meta 5.5s and swingarms on the 5.5 and 6 (plus a hardtail), but that was it, the V3 (second gen basicly) Meta was all ALU, V4 is as well.

As for the Supreme frame, maybe it's different, but the architecture is the same as far as i can see.

Figure the main guys would have got the new bike before anyone else. We shall see if Sam shows to the nationals this weekend if he is on something new.
