That is awesome! Definitely a proper step for trail bikes. I am running a 34 front with 11x34 10 sp on my Covert, wouldn't mind going to a 30 front and still having that tough gear for fast decents.

What is the big deal about using a front derailleur? Here in SoCal you need a granny since lots of the climbs are so steep. I've been running a Gamut dual ring guide for years without a problem. Sure beats the hell out of walking up the steep climbs.

Looks double barrel air-ish, but it's not identical. Specialized has done a lot with air shocks before, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are working on something new.

no big deal, just simpler... I run a 32t to an 11-34 9 spd, and am stoked with it. I used to live in MT, CO, and here in phoenix, the climbs are much steeper than most of what I had in CO, but not in MT. and my legs have grown to size. It's also lighter by quite a bit...

Interbike has got me all excited about this concept again. I wish they were shipping already. 9-36 cassette (don't care if it's 9 or 10-speed BTW - although it seems obvious it will be developed off the 10-speed platform at this point), and a 28T or 30T up front. Good bye FD, hello full gear range on 1 shifter.

I also wonder if there will be some attempt at standardization here? Basically standardizing a new freehub shape/cassette attachment mechanism, to allow hubs and cassettes to be mixed and matched as before...

I'd love to run a 9-36 or even 9-32 cassette with an Odyssey MDS BMX chainwheel (deanodize, chuck it on a lathe and take 1/32" off the back face of the teeth, then re-ano), then make buddies with someone with a waterjet cutter and get a custom Straitline Silentguide backplate made to pull the elastomer pucks in closer. to me that would be probably the most practical, bulletproof drivetrain you could get

From the interbike coverage, Canfield Brothers is making a hub that goes to 9 tooth.
