Didn't really get it, do you mean customers will want to pay peanuts for it? For a serious shop it could be a free service, they should cover the cost of one shockwiz with a single bike sold, more or less...
And it makes sense to have it free as people don't really know it either exists or how it can help them.
Got a new one for you folks, I really love this one. Fox have developed a variable friction shock, where the sidewalls OR the piston shaft have various levels of friction coefficients, based on where the piston is in the travel. So the shock has different features at different locations in the travel. More importantly, there is a Live Valve variant where the piston seal has a polyelectrolyte coating and when a voltage is applied (from a controller and sensors) the friction can be changed inside the shock. Fuckin sick.
Friction is like the worst form of "damping". Only cheap forks use that. My friend's 9 year old daghter overheated her cheap friction fork on some not that hard bike park runs.
Technically fluid (oil) damping is a form of friction too. Viscosity os the 'friction' in the fluid itself and viscosity is what gives us the damping (the resistance of a fluid to flow through different orifices). Granted, it's very different and more constant compared to friction between solid surfaces. But the early automotive dampers did use preloaded plates to provide some damping in the suspension.
One thing to always note about patents too. Big companies like Fox, Sram and Shimano can easily patent even the most stupid ideas just to have a patent covering it, preventing the competition and the small guys from exploiting that idea. Even if they have no intention of actually making stuff that the patent covers.

It’s way too laggy on the downshifts, for example when there’s a climb immediately after a descent. Battery lasts nothing in the winter and whenever you load your bike on a car you have to take off the batteries or the system will wake up and drain them.

There are sensors in the brake levers, calipers, and a pitch sensor that knows how much braking is applied and the pitch of the bike. A controller then sends a signal to the suspension to automatically prevent the bike from diving forward under braking.
On page 71 we had a discussion about telemetry and the benefits. Last sunday I listened to the Downtime podcast with Fabien Barel, where he said they had telemetry (accelerometers, brake pressure and something else, but not suspension travel I think...) in pre-2000 days at Sunn. At the time they used it for development only, but regardless (as they use it with Canyon too now) he said the main issue with telemetry is interpretation of the data. And that they have now gotten Troy's mechanic, Aaron Pelttari, to a level where the two of them are self sustained and can go testing and interpret the data without any additional people.

I've been on AXS since the beginning of Summer - can't say I've got any complaints with it, I don't find it unacceptably slow, but then I'm not racing where seconds count. For comparison I've had Di2 before. One of my friends, who bought the Di2 of me, switched to mechanical Eagle and now AXS and he feels its quicker than Di2 and no slower than his mechanical Eagle. I went straight from 11 to AXS so no comparison to mechanical Eagle.

I usually keep a spare xt derailer in stock in my pile of bike tools and gear on the floor of my spare room, I usually need to replace them every two years so my that big a deal to have 80-90€ tied up in one. Even less of a deal if you go slx or deore.

The benefit is at the front where it will move the front cage depending on the gear in the rear, to follow the cage. But that's not a feature on 1x drivetrains
As for gearboxes, the efficiency is still with the current drivetrains. Shimano's chain gearbox has promise, but the main issue is it requires a complete rethink of how bikes are made, both gearbox mounting and suspension design. Plus if each goes their own way for the mounting geometry (we have this situation with E-bike mid motors for example), you're stuck with one 'supplier'. And how do you differentiate between products? Have more gears for the more expensive group? A lighter casing? Etc.

Surprised to hear that. I thought di was servo motor up and down the cassette? I suppose if it uses a spring to go down the cassette that will lower the power requirements.
It's also self-trimming so shifts are always perfect (at least that's the promise).

In all honesty the only time I’ve had problems I’ve had with shifting quality is when I’ve either bent the derailer or the mounting bolt has loosened off.
Do we have pictures or anything of this spring? It really doesn't make any sense to have a spring. Even more so when they supposedly have a multi-10k-rpm motor in there, which is a low torque motor by definition. To get the required force to the parallelogram, the drivetrain (of the mechanism) will be multi stage, which more or less implies it's self locking. Which means it will stay in place when no power is applied. Then you apply the power in either direction and that's it.
It might be a very light spring to ensure there is some preload in the system, to prevent any backlash (it would increase the accuracy of the mechanism).

The fork seems to have the same chassis as the current one, so maybe it's a damper update? The HSC on their current one is super weird, like 30 clicks which you don't even feel when turning the knob. The actual damping is good tho, maybe the only thing I can complain about is a somewhat big difference between the LSC positions
