Hello Vital MTB Visitor,
We’re conducting a survey and would appreciate your input. Your answers will help Vital and the MTB industry better understand what riders like you want. Survey results will be used to recognize top brands. Make your voice heard!
Five lucky people will be selected at random to win a Vital MTB t-shirt.
Thanks in advance,
The Vital MTB Crew
And if yes for the benefits of doing it in Finland, tweaking a race program sure has a benefit, but it also has a benefit for the standard production. They know what they want and ordering a frame in Asia means there is a full production loop going on and then the products need to be shipped somewhere where they are checked. If they find a mistake, a load of time and money is lost. Issue can be caught much quicker, when the production is closer to you. Unless you have a guy working for you in Asia. Which costs money, it's probably good to know the local language, etc. etc.
I'm surprised so many companies still stay in Asia, i wouldn't be surprised if it would slowly start to make sense to move certain (lower volume) productions back to Europe, Northern America, etc. Asia is getting expensive as well.
This thread sucks this year.
The thing with super magnesium is the lower stifness modulus and lower density, so i doubt you'd make any real awesome gains in the weight of the frame. This would occur only in areas where you are bound by the strength of the material (the yield strength is the same as with ALU more or less), since, to gain the same stiffness, you need more material. Which will make a very strong frame, that will have either much larger tubes or thicker tube walls, negating the advantage in the density and thus weight.
Sure, this is a generalisation and you'd need to look at a specific problem, but yeah... Lately frame stiffness hasn't been much of an issue if i'm not mistaken.
As for the thread sucking, with every post in this thread the likelyhood of us mentioning Hitler goes to 100%. So that's taken care of right there and then.
Also about Tahnee, i can sure see her leaving her dad's team to go full factory. Easy peasy.
EDIT: regarding super magnesium, fatigue data hasn't been published yet, maybe the thing fatigues like an old grandpa which would mean 3 year frames after which they would crack.
The team was meant as a development team for her from the start. I think they have reached a point where things are pretty good for them from a financial standpoint but if some big team was to offer a good contract she´d be stupid to not jump on the opportunity, given that the shelf live for dh riders isn´t that long and she needs to bring in some retirement money at some point.
The only reason i see for her to stay despite better offers is if the team really needed her as the postergirl to keep sponsors on board.
Regardless, i don´t know what to make of that bike design and instagram post.
Seems a bit weird to desticker her frame like that, but then again she could just be playing the fans for a bit of fun and publicity.
Finally the big question was revealed, Gwin to Intense with Neko and Jack Moir.
Today, during the launch of Tazer in Europe, a conversation between journalists and the European manager confirmed it.
Great movement from Intense that signs its neighbor of Temecula. We'll see what Gwin can do with one of the best paddock bikes.
It's now an eBike, revival of an old name used for a slalom bike back in a day.
It's not like Moir is a slouch. Looking at his form during 2017 he is capable of challenging Gwin for victories if he can stay injury free. If Moir is up to speed in 2019 it should make for a very interesting season :-)
Edit - not sure why I've been downvoted. I didn't make this stuff up. I remember Gwin saying he would rather have a younger rider as a teammate who he can mentor and develop, rather than a rival who adds more pressure to a race weekend. If I have time I'll try to find the interview.
AFAIK specialized wanted gwin decked out in full specialized gear and sram, same as troy was riding plus didn‘t want to pay as much as he was demanding.
will be interesting to see how this intense thing turns out since gwin is sponsored bei fox suspension and bell helmets and intense was on full sram support plus troy lee kits the last few years.
Nobody on Vital listen to the Inside Line Podcasts? Haha
