Just ridiculously ahead of the curve for 2006 or whenever this frame was created. My first awareness of this bike is Cam Cole racing one at 2006 World Champs in Rotorua, but I suppose that means it was being designed before that, probably in 2004 or 2005. That's crazy to think about, because almost everything that made this bike unique in 2004, 5, or 6 is still very hot and new and innovative in 2025: carbon, high pivot, gearbox, jack shaft, brake arm to tune anti-rise, directionally tuned stiffness in the chainstays, and the axle path and linkage layout are damn close to the new high pivot Canyon Sender. Super impressive forward thinking from a little shed in NZ. Reminds me of Anthony Hopkins in "The World's Fastest Indian."

yep. i had it up @ whistler a couple weeks ago (hadn't ridden it for a couple years prior) - for a nearly 2 decade old bike, was still surprisingly effective. yes, the wheels are small, the fork was puking it's vital fluids, and what once was a size medium-large was now definitely small in terms of reach, but the fc/rc ratio is cutting edge (long cs), h/a is still contemporary, and the properly high pivot suspension - unencumbered by extraneous gearing bits - is ridiculously plush. reinforced my impression of how ahead of the curve aaron was & what an achievement this build was - esp. for a solitary dude in his shed. another kiwi analogue would be john britten & his radical road race motorbikes.

There was a dude named Judd Umburgher racing one of these at plattekill around 05/06, if my memory serves me correctly. Bike was wild! Crazy to think that this and the Balfa bb7 existed back then, and are so similar to today’s bikes. Then again, Horst link was too, so I guess what works, works!
