If anyone is ever wondering how far the bike industry is, as far as technological advancements, here's a good one to put some perspective on currently available bikes. Shimano are working on machine learning and artificial intelligence models for bikes. I'd say this is likely going to be for a commuter-type bike, but they do state this system can control...

I recently wrote about a sustainability/manufacturing technical innovation that SRAM have worked out. It appears as though they've developed an in-house carbon recycling process for the carbon they would normally just trash. They take their machined carbon scrap, which is generally useless without a recycling process, and can create molding compounds (think car bumpers) using their new process. The very...

SRAM are developing a mechanical anti-dive/pitch/endo system, where the bike has a dual-use lever that sends fluid to a rear caliper, and the rear caliper sends fluid to the front caliper. The new part here is that the rear caliper pivots. When the pads grab the rotor, the caliper is sent forward and a little valve hits a bumper to...
In response to the PB article published this morning about the Shimano wireless system, we wrote an article on Jan. 11th about the patent filing on this new tech. There's way more information on the system in this article. We even show a wireless fork system they're developing. "Unfortunately, the juiciest parts of the applications, including pictures of the components...

I have Di2 at the moment so no need to really upgrade, but it is VERY good and I imagine this new system will be better. Only issue with Di2 is the price when you break a mech, I'm onto my 3rd one now which is getting pricey.

I'm excited to see the finished product. I used to be a Shimano fan but recently decided to buy the AXS system. I have to say it works exceptionally well. I've smashed it on multiple occasions harder than any mechanical derailleur could handle once and it shifts perfectly.

Here's a strange one. Yeti have applied to patent a linear derailleur. They're using a 6R linkage system that moves the derailleur in a perfectly linear path. Yeti say this will be smaller, lighter, simpler, and allow for more freedom for designers. Additionally, Yeti say this will improve the performance of the derailleur system. The cool part for me is...
