Saw this earlier today...Disappointing. I don't know if USA Cycling is having a hard time securing venues or they just flat out don't care about the gravity discipline of the sport. Personally I feel like it is the latter. I say that because...last couple of years at the national championships...award presentation almost seemed like an inconvenience for the gravity athletes but you would think the XC athletes were competing in the Olympics. I mean...every XC competitor in every class...the award presenter practically knew their life stories. When it came to the DH guys...it was more like...here's your medal now get...

I believe people have then tendency to forget that some of the World Cup people who are not on upper shelf contracts still have full time jobs in the off-season, in order to afford all that racing that we all love. Anyone remember how Tracey Hannah worked two years in a mine in Australia so she can pay back all the money she spent in one pretty successful (but not financially backed enough) season??? Look for an interview with Miranda and you will learn how she works full time in a bike shop. Before being on the big Specialized team...

Although last year wasn't the best (far from it and I am sure she will be the first one to admit that) she did well as a privateer before joining the 'factory' team. She was a real promise and back to good health I see no reason why she can't be podium material. On a side note. It is a bit of a disgrace that a lot of factory teams are a sausage fest. Yes, shorter seat tubes. Let people decide what size they want based on reach and stack and not be limited by the seat mast. I seriously don't understand why some companies don't get this.

The Syndicate is a department at SCB, its not a separate entity. It has always been this way. In that way, the athletes, the management and the activities of the team reflect the values of the brand. Its an integral part of how we operate, not a bolt-on that lasts a couple years til' it moves to another brand in a transparent game of musical chairs.
