Anything in the low to upper 20s is common. There is no single tire pressure that's going to work for everyone. Terrain, conditions, bike type, bike setup, rider weight, riding style, and tire size are some of the variables to consider. I live in Washington and run really low pressures, but I seemingly always have to air up in California. The speeds are higher, the berms and ruts are more like concrete, the smooth bits are smoother, and the sharp bits are sharper. One of my friends from California refers to my setup as "flat tires." So I think those pressures make a lot of sense for San Diego, even if I think they would suck in Bellingham.
