IMO sram quality is poor, the old 11 speed stuff was great, the 12 speed stuff is garbage. Soft cassettes, shot jockey wheel bearings, clutches that barely do 6 months. How are you killing the mechs?

How did you destroy the two SLX derailleurs? I'm asking because I'm not sure a XTR or GX rear derailleur is gonna be more resistant to direct rock strikes, for instance.

There isn’t that big of a difference. Yes e bike motors are super weak compared to most dirt bikes, but all of them can be modified to remove speed / power output restrictions. If it’s a power output thing, why can’t I ride my crf110 at the trail center, it’s quiet, slow, and I promise to pass people on the left? Once something has a motor it will be hacked, modified, whatever to produce more power, it’s what we do with motors. This is why I don’t see any real difference between and e bike and an overpriced weak dirt...

My animosity towards e-bikes has waned in the last few years, mostly because it's obvious they are here to stay whether I like it or not. But I have a legitimate question about their seemingly quick acceptance. Would other outdoor sports accept (electric) motors being introduced to their sport as widely as e-bikes? Would whitewater kayakers suddenly be ok with kayaks with motors? Would hiking areas start allowing offroad electric segways for people who aren't able-bodied enough to hike? Electric cross country skis to get into the backcountry quicker? I'm not being a smart ass, this is something I've thought...

There seems to be a pretty high correlation between use of "acoustic/analog bikes" and That Guy who shows up to group rides as the only ebike, or rides his ebike in areas where its specifically prohibited. Inventing new jargon for old things on top of already annoying behavior is like doubling down on the annoying.

Preach it brother! A non-motorized bike is just a bike. A motorized bike is an ebike, unless it's got footpegs and a twist throttle, in which case it's a moped.

"Acoustic Bikes"? Hard nope there. Can we all just agree that the nomenclature for a normal fully mechanical non-motor assisted bike is a bike and a e-bike is an e-bike.

calling an mtb "acoustic" is what i'm referring, that has been causing a stir at PB also. Acoustic refers to auditory stuff, find it weird if you don't know that.

Of course, I rode the trek superfly just outside Genoa Italy and then I’ve done some riding on my local trails on a Levo. I thought both were fun to ride. They are both obviously motorized, it’s a different sport. And I think that is my point. It’s not mountain biking because of the motor. There are some parallels in my current situation and yours. I live in an area with big climbs and descents and I struggle up them on my mountain bike when work / family allows. But that is part of what I consider mountain biking. However...

E bikes are bad for mountain biking. It’s a shame they are used on most of the same trails (for now). At least be honest and have a throttle on it — it’s an overpriced weak moto (and yes all these e bikes can be hacked to go ALOT faster) I can’t think of why a mtb website would review these other than $$$, vital you should be helping out getting these banned on non motorized trails

I broadly OK on ebikes, though I get both the appeal and hesitation (or hatred) from others. What I really don't understand is e-bike racing. Who TF in their right mind would care in the least about e-bike racing? Sure, it's another category, but my level of interest is well off Elite Men and Women, then Juniors, and possibly on par with Master's category, or lower.

speak for your self i have only been given the option of "booking" a vaccination yesterday because of my age and ethnicity, these guys have dropped the ball. No one was too relaxed we just dont have the vaccine supply, watch us run out in a few weeks, and no way the government would let all those people in to the country for a bike race without 2 weeks quarantine. The rest of the world is open and we are playing catch up .Finally get my 1st microchip on Monday would have had it ages ago
