Can we also compare with other brands to help build an educated shopping experience? Does the Grid equate to EXO or EXO+? What about the Grid Trail, is that EXO+ or DD levels? We can compare weights and get ideas based on that but would be cool to have more construction/real info. Thanks for putting this out, an archive with the major tire brands would be very helpful.

If I may offer a pared-down version of the answer (knowing full well that I am likely to be roasted and then have the charred flesh torn from my bones,) the suck comes from an overwrought ideal of individualism. Dare I say neoliberalism? We're not the only ones out there enjoying the trails, and our amusement is never more important than anyone else's right to enjoy the trails.

Fewer than less skilled riders, fewer than non-bike trail users, fewer than stakeholders involved in land use decisions. Good for Logan Peat...? There is a balance to strike between factory works parts that catch your attention with their exclusivity and radness, and production equipment that one can imagine oneself buying. I will take a zip tie over tiny threads tapped into soft metals (Mg, Al) any day of the week. Pure foolishness making the zip tie out to be something lesser that needs to be improved upon by frame and fork manufacturers.

The majority of the bikes I'm seeing on the trails in the SF Bay Area are 5k at a minimum. Many are closer to 8-10k builds on carbon frames. Ibis Mojo, Ripleys, Santa Cruz, and Specialized seem to rule the trails in the area. Wide variety of owners. Everyone from military (me), construction workers, to tech industry types enjoying their shred machines. Granted my bike is considered middle end at 4k with an aluminum frame.

Maybe the company trendwatchers know there is some new demand for high-end flats, like a segment of the middle-aged lunch ride crowd is about to give up clips after reading some article, but speaking as a member of the existing flat pedal market, we like bling (whether color, conspicuous tech, or branding), but are pretty price-conscious. $180 is XTR full retail.

Hey Fox or any lurking experts: are high-speed rebound and low-speed rebound really speed-sensitive, or is this terminology just used as an analogy with HSC and LSC, which the public presumably understands or feels comfortable with? I'm having trouble picturing a graph of rebound shaft speed vs spring force. When the shock is bottomed, spring force is maximum, but in that moment of transition between compression and rebound, shaft speed is zero. Then it will rebound very fast in the absence of damping. After a small hit, less spring force is released. But if you have heavy damping, then shaft...
