10/30/2023 12:00pm That is the current live shock. See where the wire plugs in where the yellow arrow is. Next version that is in RAD phase looks considerably different

10/28/2023 9:45am Yeah this was super bizarre, although not that surprising given the platform. The review was pretty accurate but terrible timing when the new version has already been launched and addresses every one of those shortcomings! The problem is people are going to skim the article and think it’s referring to the new one, so it’s straight up terrible journalism. I don’t strictly mind reviews calling out a bad product, but if it’s not even remotely current then it’s either lazy content creation or they have an agenda

10/28/2023 9:44am Well, I would expect a tech article on a fork to come out for it's debut. If not, it would come out listed as a "Long Term Review". The fork is literally out of production. Personally, I think PB just had a quota, Seb had an old ass article in his archive & submitted to meet the quota for the day. If Vital published a "review" of a 2 year old out of production fork, no way in hell would I respect that with some definitive prefaces for doing it.

10/27/2023 4:21pm As it would happen, yes. Bad things happen lol. Production if left unchecked can produce some really bad stuff. In no way making excuses for poor product for DVO either, I myself haven't had good experiences with them. I just don't like Aston. Let's stop arguing about it though and bring it back to tech rumors.

10/27/2023 4:10pm MTB forums/comments: Reviewers are industry schills, they never write anything bad about any products. Everyone knows that sucks/is unrideable/will fail and won't get warranty support. Also MTB forums/comments: This reviewer wrote something critical about a product I happen to like, they must be biased against that company. Total hatchet job man!

10/27/2023 3:35pm Why I said "Even when he's right". That experience with that suspension legitimately was terrible, I'll give him that. Definitely doesn't seem like THAT's the normal though. Gotta keep in mind that DVO produces OEM suspension for a pretty big list of companies. If it's a bad experience it's likely going to be closer to Seb, not Aston.

10/27/2023 3:20pm Personally from what I have seen the quality is hit and miss. If it was assembled right, performance is fine and will do most everything a Zeb or 38 can. Maybe not better, but it's something you can trust. As far as Aston goes, even when he's right he sounds like a crying baby. "If DVO doesn't like this article...

10/27/2023 2:37pm It sounds like he didn’t have a great experience with the fork, and had a job to do. Which is to write about his experience.

10/27/2023 2:37pm DVO has got interesting concepts, but from the other article I agree with Seb. Hope the 38 air version help the drawbacks to OTT.

10/26/2023 2:41pm Article up on the other site about a new Specialized patent for the "Under Bottom Bracket" linkage seen on the new Demo, represented by a 172mm bike that sure looks like it could reasonably be the next Enduro. Overall the information they give (some examples of anti-rise, anti-squat, and leverage rate with 5 different upper link positions/sizes) is basically right in line with newer trends of moderate progression, but there was an interesting bit halfway down the article about anti-rise: “Changes can be made to the design of the brake mount and/or the rear braking system that attaches to the...

10/26/2023 2:41pm I would say yes. Though I would prefer to use linkages and rotating bushes, not a sliding support like Eminent did it...

10/26/2023 1:52pm I don't know anything about Knolly's patents other than the one about the seat tube meeting the down tube at a certain angle above the BB (which was in conflict with Intense a few years ago), but in the UBB system the shock linkage is driven by the chainstay/lower link, instead of the upper rocker link.

10/26/2023 1:31pm I hope they release it with both trunnion and normal mounts on the shock! I love my EXT and I've used it for soon 5 years over 3 bikes because the tune, stroke and eye to eye can be changed. But It has me choosing frames with only normal mounts because of it.

10/26/2023 1:30pm Whoa, didn't even see there's an adjustable collar in there to adjust the spring stiffness. Cool idea! Integrated Sprindex approach.

10/24/2023 4:23pm From the associated interview: " What sets my bike apart from all others is the purple twin tube adjustable coil shock. This is something I was super excited to develop with Cornelius (Intend) as part of my master thesis. It didn’t make it to production though so now I am riding the only one of its kind and us it as the perfect suspension development platform." https://trickstuff.de/rides-of-trickstuff-episode-8/
