It would be a ten second penalty per course marking pole missed. Enough penalty to discourage course cutting, not not so severe to disqualify a rider for accidentally feeble grinding a pole.

I actually think that "x" second penalties based on the severity of leaving the course would be a good thing. It seems wrong to disqualify someone given all the hard work and money spent to be there, but make the time penalty count for something. For example Lachie's mistake, given that it was quite minor, could be a 5sec penalty. He gained nothing by going outside.

If they would do these with a low contrast stripe design... or black on black... I'd consider. But, it's not going to happen with these current designs. I can see it for racer bois, but not for regular folk.

I don't think critiquing the use of AI slop means people are trying to chase him away. He's an extremely smart guy with a lot of insight that everyone is very grateful for, and proud to have as part of this community. (We love you Jeff). I think it's normal for people you like to make decisions you disagree with. Everyone gives their friend some shit when they say something dumb, or yells at the TV when their favorite soccer player makes a bad pass.

I had some similar hand issues when I started riding more, especially on longer descents. For me it ended up being a mix of grip position and how hard I was holding the bars. I’d try tweaking the bar roll and brake lever angle before buying a bunch of new stuff. I’ve been trying to sort out my setup while also paying more attention to general recovery, and that’s actually how I ended up looking through some instaflex reviews. while it's not the only reason, i don't disagree. i believe rampage needs to operate on a rank and re-rack format. no numerical scoring. but they will never make that change. there also needs to be some form of open convo about... basically when a rider can't reasonably improve their score or it won't gain them anything. like in the case of Brendog. it's actually absurd to seemingly let him build an entire line and have an idea of what he's going to do on it (or is capable of) and then score so low. like he DID his run...

Some of the blame for the injuries lies with the judges/scoring. As a rider,if you want to win you're left with no option but to try some outrageously dangerous stunt because of the old boys club that exists between the judges and the oldest riders left in the competition.

My world champs super lukewarm take: Riders should race in their rad world champs kit instead of the country kit. OR, for the love of god, let a graphics designer rework the color patterns. Some countries are cool but most look terrible. The USA spiderman suit is so lame.

and Emil has only just recently gotten back on a (road) bike. effectively a whole year of recovery, and seemingly nowhere close to where he was/should be. rampage is pandora's box. even if the event was banned/stopped, riders would continue to ride in this manner. FMX probably the gnarliest example. and part of me thinks they did have to reel back a bit with where things were going. there's a lot of attention around best whip and quarterpipe now, and slightly less emphasis on freestyle routines. once pastrana did the double backy... the bar was just too high. i wonder...

Silver lining? That was the most even-handed news report on illegal trail building that I've ever seen. A conspicuous absence of pearl clutching and hyperbole. Maybe there's hope for the future yet.
