The Sentinel is still a bit more descent hungry than the Stumpjumper 15. It just rides with more authority and isn't as light on its feet as the Stumpy when it comes to moving the bike around. Not to say you can't get jiggy on the Sentinel. I would just pick it over the Stumpy if I was heading to a bike park or going shuttling since it felt more composed in the rough stuff. Climbing abilities are really similar. I rode the Stumpy with an Eliminator/Bucher GridTrail casing tire combo, and the Sentinel with a High Roller 3/Assegai DH...

Mother fu#*%& I just bought the Aenomaly Switchgrade like two weeks ago and now they've dropped a new version. Having ridden the previous three-position model, I can agree with the market feedback. A two position seems better. I will never need the third "downhill" position and having just the two positions I actually need would make on-the-fly changes much easier. I wonder if they're keeping the same degree of change between positions.

The link did exactly was I exactly what I was hoping it would (and what the graphs said it would). I had to run too stiff previously to prevent bottom outs. Now I have only 1 volume reducer instead of 3, and am not bottoming. I'm using about 90-95% of my travel but the small bump stuff is so much better. Turned stutter bumps into a highway....its so plush. I have to pre-load a little earlier on jump lips because more of the travel is active, but this isn't a problem just a difference. I get a little more pedal...

new riders may not notice tires or brakes (as long as the brakes are bedded in properly). there may be up-and-comers who already rip getting these bikes, too, however. locally, there are tons of kids flying off massive jumps on clapped-out $500 hardtails b/c their skills ballooned so quickly with a bike park in the area. a $2000 bike for a jr high or high school kid is still a ton of money, and riders like that would probably notice performance issues with lackluster components once they continue to push. also, as rick said, in "expensive" bike tests, most often...

Can’t speak for your bike shop, but in my experience TRP customer service has been second to none. We have had a run of lemon brakes come through my shop recently and TRP has been helpful and easy to get calipers/parts from in those situations.

My trp rear derailleur snapped on flat land with no rock strike. My LBS didn’t believe me until I gave them the derailleur and it didn’t have a scratch on it. Never heard a thing back from the shop on warranty either. Their brakes are amazing though.

I tried the previous TR12 shifter and derailleur on a Leonardi cassette, Wolftooth chainring, and KMC chain. I wanted to try something without any Sram or Shimano. Let me just say it wasn't even close, with the TRP feeling way behind the big boys. Its sounds like they've made major improvements so I'm hoping this new setup will be closer. It was mainly the clutch and the shift paddles that I didn't like, and it sounds like they've changed both those things so fingers crossed.

i posted this in tech forum - "agreed that price is heavy and not for everyone/most riders. fwiw, if shock is sent in for service each year, warranty is reset for another year, not to mention if you get a new bike, they'll configure the shock to the new bike. when we were w/ darren, he said that shock #47 from 2016 (or some long-ass time ago), came in for service, still going strong. different ways to perceive 'cost' or value." the personalized/tuning/customer service aspect of it all may be worth the price for some. made in USA? if you...

You just know that thing rides so damn good but holy crap $1600 is getting up there! I have a Nomad4 with push shock+ cascade link that is the best rear suspension on any bike ive ridden. Just got a push when there was a sale for $900 for my YT Decoy aswell. That thing rides so much better tech climbing on the eeb.

Glad you liked it! I’ve reviewed a handful of bikes over the past year and a half as a contributor you can check out on my profile or by searching my last name on the site if you’d like to see those. I started full time recently so the tall guy reviews will be more of a regular occurrence moving forward. Vital cares about tall people too!

Screw Specialized. They just bought all 5 stores in our region & then immediately closed one, leaving an entire riding scene without a shop. I'm not close enough friends with the previous owner to ask if it met his expectations. But they screwed over an entire community. I'd love to know if he knew they were going to shutter his baby if he would have rather ditched Specialized at that shop and sold the business to someone in the community/ Cherokee Tribe who had the passion but didn't have the high profit margin requirement of a corporation looking to feed...
