I get it and do agree. I also get the idea that R&D in the space (electronically controlled suspension) isn't super cheap, nor will it likely yield awesome product in the near term. You've got to put out something to offset some of those costs from a DCF standpoint alone; but that doesn't mean its so good that you are legitimately having more fun or faster. I think a good comparison is some of the early fuel injection. It was super expensive, heavy and not all that much better (if any better) than carb'd stuff. But over time, it allowed...

I would summarize my time on Flight Attendant as not "solving" the problem of inefficiency climbing but "improving" pedaling efficiency which led to a more enjoyable experience on the climbs. I agree there is nothing wrong with current assist switches/mechanical setups or that just pedaling a well designed bike in 'Open' works darn good already. But, Flight Attendant was better than current mechanical/user actuated systems and undeniably better than just riding without any assistance. It is understandable that active suspension would get banned in a discipline where you go dozens of tarmac laps around the same track. But perhaps mountain biking would be a different can of beans altogether, particularly in time trial type disciplines like downhill and enduro.

i wasnt aware of there ever being electric suspension in f1. i just meant taking the racer out of the equation with aero, engines, progam, etc. fair enough

I've tried a number of different shock configurations on a number of different bikes. The idea that the Super Deluxe is somehow a bad air shock is a bit of a misnomer. What the Super Deluxe does lack is the tunability of a Float X2, but in outright performance, I'd say its right up there with the best of them. ...but don't listen to me. A number of RockShox athletes have won a whole bunch of WC/EWS races on the (air) shock (eg: Hill, Pierron, Moir) Obviously on the coil front, you've got Loris, Reece, Brosnon etc - Dcamp can...

Maybe you missed the part where Ryan said he would buy the Spire? In the end, it isn't about what bike our testers favored most. It is about the areas where each bike excels and how that may speak to our readers.

The only place it could have gone is to #1, we loved the Spire. I tested and owned a Scout on these same trails with an air shock. That platform was somehow not as harsh.
