You guys are ignoring the obvious. There was a bunny on the track further down. Jesus sacrificed gwinn to save one of his (other) creatures. There's a reason he did it in the section with a circus net.

Jeesh, the guy was just screwing around probably trying to cheer himself up after blowing a race that he was planning on winning. What do you want him to do, curtsey down the rest of the track with his head bowed, one hand over his heart and the other hand holding a picture of minnaar? The day a bike rider gets chastised over the holy 'sanctity' of an event is the day this sport needs to fuck off and go back to spandex and finish line temper tantrums.

World Cup...more like EuroCup! Yup, no more US venue. The 3 year contract was up. I don't think there were enough fans to make them want to renew it. I heard that Windham wants to host the DH Nationals, so you might see it again in the future. Excited to race the course this weekend for the ESC.

No kidding - every venue is in Europe except MSA. Nothing against Europe, but come on - throw us a bone. Just for that, I hope Gwin sweeps it and Neko, Rude, Strobel, Warren and Jackson (and every other US rider) all start crushing the top 20 and creep into the top 10 - not that I wouldn't root for that anyway.

wow, that's just awful. Everyone knows Gee is an incredible rider, I personally doubt it's the equipment, at that level. Maybe just bad luck? Hopefully he's mentally and physically ready to ride %100 on Sunday, but I'm not sure how that would be really possible after that.

This is what seperates the pro athletes from the rest of us. HARDCORE. And to think he also broke his leg, what, just 3 months ago? If that happened to me (not that I'd ever have the balls to go that fast), I'd be taking the trip home in a wooden box.

so funny the speculation that its equipment related. If you are not pushing it like these guys in practice (& Race and Quali) you are not going to be on the podium. Lots of the top riders had big crashes today. Combination of track speed and conditions and just manning up. These guys are in the gym 75 % of the time just to prevent injuries such as this. 99 % of us normal riders wouldn't be able to even walk for week or we would be broken after a crash like this.

Gee had many OTB type crashes over the years on every bike he has ridden. He rode most of last year with concussion from multiple crashed on commencal. He is faster on the GT his splits have proved it, just had a bit of bad luck in Ft Bill and RSA otherwise those podiums could have just as easy been wins.

Gee has always been pushing at the very limit, and has taken a bunch of big crashes over the years. At the speeds these guys are now going (especially since Gwin upped the level for everybody AGAIN), all it takes is for you to be a little bit off your timing on a jump like this, and you'll get bucked.

Jeebus! That was brutally savage. I would think it was more user-related in regards to the cause of the crash. He did mention it was his first attempt at a full run AND he is still technically recovering from a broken leg. Whatever the case, it's good to know he walked away from that one and can ride another day!
