This was maybe the biggest thing I did not like about Cushcore in that if you flat and have to put in a tube you will be wrestling with it and swearing profusely as your riding buddies or competitors disappear. Granted it should not happen much, but when it does you're FOF'd. I moved onto Huck Norris and have had no issues. I did recently shove a Nukeproof ARD insert on my hardtail's rear wheel, so we'll see if it was worth it.

I'm with ya on that. That's the reason i went with DH tires and aluminum rims. I want bulletproof, worry-free race runs. Hopefully the only time i use my tube is when giving it to another racer.

Depends how much of the race is left. If I can get down to the end of the stage just riding it flat on the cushcore, then I'll do that and get a new tire put on in the pits. Otherwise I'll have to rip out the cushcore, slap in the tube, wear the cushcore around my neck, and get down to the pits.

cush core front and rear, with spare tube in case of puncture ? You just throw away your cush core while puting in the tube 🤔

Interesting how many people are focusing on the DW part of the equation. Not taking anything away from the man, they myth, the legend, but I see the (much) bigger deal here being the ability for the Athertons to quickly prototype different geometries, getting a bike to fit them better than anything they've had in the past. While my previous post focused on the questionable business sense of all this, as a racer, I can't think of anything better than being able to 3D print stuff that vastly alters the geometry allowing the rider to quickly go through a few...

It doesn't even sound like just the Athertons. It sounds like as part of the direct 2 consumer business model, they will be modifying the geometry slightly to your specs by modifying the carbon tube lengths. That's going to shake things up a bit.
