I dunno, Bigburd...aside from the RedBull feed and the annoying RockBand advert you have to watch to see anything on Youtube, I'm not sure anyone is getting rich off of marketing this stuff. And more importantly,there are a lot of comments on here that seem to say: 1. No one will insure this type of event, with a 20% chance of catastrophic injury. 2. If someone other than the riders / riding community steps in, there's going to be all kinds of rules about safety and restrictions on rider freedom, which basically would suck. Would a bigger prize purse actually help ? Or would people take even greater risks, still get horribly fucked up and come away with nothing but a huge medical bill ?

I hope you all read this because it's something of a "fact". I write insurance, some pretty crazy policies too sometimes, and one thing to understand is that THERE IS NO INSURANCE POLICY FOR THIS TYPE OF EVENT!!! Sure, you race a USAC bike race, you get secondary coverage that will pay 70/30 after you use all of your existing policy and that's just a bike race, not an "event" (IF YOUR INSURER DEEMS RAMPAGE IS COVERED). But that coverage is easy, simple and a large pool of risk (100's of thousands of riders). Pretty generic "racing" risk. But even...

What about charging $5 for every live feed? Have that money go straight to rider safety and secondarily to better purses. Red bull gets to splash their logo on everything and we pay the riders something for their risk. Honestly, I'd feel better watching if I chipped in.

I just saw the Vital slideshow on Finale Ligure. Something about Richie and Jared not being on the same team next year. I have no idea what that is about, but it's been fun to see these two riding around some of the local spots thanks to the Yeti sponsorship. Would be a bummer to no longer have that connection...

I just watched some of the Scott Genius 27.5+ test here on vital. Aside from it being a Scott Genius test, it was an interesting piece. Graves seems like he's next to Tomac in crossover talent. Only a few guys have arguably been competitive in both cross country and downhill, Graves, gracia, minnaar, Tomac, obviously. Was Furtado on the list? Lopes should be on the list as well.
